Lock Haven, Pa. - California's Amy Johns and Mansfield's Mallory Moore both earn their third PSAC weekly honor of the season as Johns is the West Athlete of the Week while Moore is the East Athlete of the Week.

Clarion's Hannah Heeter earns her third straight PSAC West Freshman of the Week after averaging a double-double for the third consecutive week. Cheyney's Aerie DeJesus earns her first PSAC East Freshman of the Week accolade after a solid all-around performance in a trio of games.



PSAC East Athlete of the Week
Mallory Moore, Mansfield
Senior, Guard

Moore is the East Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week after averaging 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 4.5 steals for Mansfield, which went 1-1 over the last week. She made 14-of-33 shots from the field (42.4 percent) and for the second straight week, missed just one free throw, converting on 13-of-14 (92.9 percent) from the charity stripe as she ranks second in the league in free throw percentage. Moore, the PSAC leader in both points and steals, scored a game-high 24 points in a loss to Bloomsburg on Wednesday and then came back to post a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds in Saturday's 57-54 win over Cheyney.


PSAC East Freshman of the Week
Aerie DeJesus, Cheyney
Freshman, Guard
West Chester, Pa./West Chester East


DeJesus averaged 18.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists for the Wolves in three games last week. She made 22-of-48 shots from the floor (45.8 percent), including 6-of-16 from three-point range (37.5 percent). In last Monday's makeup game against Millersville, she contributed 10 points, three rebounds and four assists. DeJesus was then Cheyney's leading scorer in the next two contests as she scored a career-high 26 points and also had six boards and six assists on Wednesday against Kutztown, followed by 19 points, four rebounds and three helpers on Saturday against Mansfield.


PSAC West Athlete of the Week
Amy Johns, California
Senior, Forward
McKeesport, Pa./McKeesport


Johns helped lead the Vulcans to a pair of wins over Slippery Rock and Lock Haven by averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. She made 16-of-35 shots from the field (45.7 percent) and 7-of-9 free throws (77.8 percent). Johns posted her fifth 20-point game of the season on Wednesday, tallying 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting along with nine rebounds in a 67-54 win over Slippery Rock. On Saturday, Johns scored 19 points, four rebounds and four assists in just 24 minutes of action in an 80-57 win over Lock Haven.


PSAC West Freshman of the Week
Hannah Heeter, Clarion

Heeter averaged 14.5 points, 15.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists for the Golden Eagles to earn her third West Freshman of the Week honor of the season. She made 61.9 percent of her shots from the floor (13-for-21) and 3-of-4 from the free throw line. On Wednesday against Lock Haven, Heeter recorded 15 points and 15 rebounds along with three assists. She followed that up with a near-identical performance on Saturday against Gannon, posting 14 points, 15 rebounds and a single assist along with three steals.





Team Notes

Bloomsburg

Catherine Noack had her fifth game straight game with double digits after getting 11 points against West Chester ... The loss to West Chester knotted the season series between the teams at 31 wins each ... In BU's win over Mansfield the Huskies forced 22 turnovers, the eighth time this season the team has forced 20 or more turnovers ... Dana Wieller surpassed 1,200 career points when she got 14 points in the game with WCU. She now has 1,202 for her career and needs just seven more to pass Michele Albanese for 10th place on the career scoring list.

California
After losing their first PSAC West game, the Vulcans have now won three-straight divisional games with victories over Slippery Rock and Lock Haven last week … Senior F Amy Johns was the team’s leading scorer in both wins and ranks No. 21 in school history with 1,053 career points … Freshman G Chelsea McKnight set a career high with 17 points after making five three-pointers on Saturday at Lock Haven … With its win on Wednesday, Cal U has won all 20 meetings against Slippery Rock since the 2002-03 season ... The Vulcans will play live on Pittsburgh CW Saturday, Jan. 21, when they host Mercyhurst on Alumni Day

Cheyney
Despite an 0-3 week, the Lady Wolves were more competitive … Cheyney registered a season low 12 turnovers in a mid-week tilt at Kutztown and followed that up with 18 giveaways against Mansfield … It was the first and second time this season that the Lady Wolves forced more turnovers than they committed … Kutztown; the most points they scored in a half all season … Nadirah Brown has recorded double figures in the last six games and eleventh on the season … Linda Henderson netted a season high 11 points in the home loss to Mansfield … Aerie DeJesus tallied double figures in all three games this past week, including a season high 26 at Kutztown … Brown has led the Lady Wolves in rebounding the past seven contests … Cheyney will host cross-town rival West Chester on Wednesday before traveling to Shippensburg on Saturday.

Clarion
Hannah Heeter continued her double-double streak with a pair this week giving her four in a row, the first Golden Eagle with four straight since Jessica Albanese had four in a row in 2008. She will try to become the first with five straight since Heather Cigich had nine in a row in 2003-2004 ... During her streak, Heeter is averaging 12.8 ppg, 13.2 rpg and her 139 rebounds ranks 17th among freshman in school history ... Emma Fickel has moved into 8th place in school history in 3-pointers made with 129.

East Stroudsburg
ESU fell to 6-10 (3-9 PSAC) with a pair of road losses in conference play this week … Warriors lost 74-53 at Millersville on Wednesday and 63-44 at Shippensburg on Saturday … Shot 27.7 percent for week, and just 2-for-27 in first half at Shippensburg … Sr. G Cyara Woodridge scored 18 points at Millersville, one off her season high … Woodridge leads ESU with 11.1 ppg … Fr. F Jessica Martin (9.2 ppg), a 4-time PSAC East Freshman of the Week, averaged 10.0 rebounds for the week … Martin's 37 blocks are ESU's freshman record and rank 5th on the single-season list … She is just 5 blocks away from the career top 10 … Fr. G Ryann Fiascki scored career-high 14 points at Shippensburg … So. G Andrea Veres (8.9 ppg), a Speech Pathology major, was named ESU's Scholar-Athlete at the Lehigh Valley Small College luncheon last Tuesday … Warriors host PSAC East leaders Bloomsburg and West Chester this week.

Edinboro
The Fighting Scots (16-0, 12-0 PSAC) jumped two spots to a school record No. 3 in this week’s USA TODAY/ESPN Top 25 Coaches’ Poll as one of two unbeaten teams left in Division II … Edinboro set the program record for most consecutive wins with its 15th straight victory by way of a 71-45 margin at No. 18 Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday ... Senior guard Raven Metz scored a career-high 20 points and added 3 assists, 6 rebounds and 5 steals to key the Scots while senior forward Renee’ Brown registered 12 points, 6 assists and 4 steals … Edinboro kept its win streak alive via a 68-37 win at Slippery Rock on Saturday to secure its 25th straight regular season victory dating to Jan. 29, 2011. Renee’ Brown tallied 18 points while junior forward/center Samantha Blazetic also netted 18 points to go along with nine rebounds … Next up are home games against Mercyhurst (Jan. 25) and Clarion (Jan. 28).

Gannon
Gannon earned two wins this week in PSAC action. The Lady Knights earned a 57-56 win over Mercyhurst on Wednesday, before taking care of Clarion at home by a 72-58 score … Gannon's last-second win over Mercyhurst came thanks to a lay-up from Jen Papich with two seconds left … The lead was the first for the Lady Knights since 8:54 left in the game … Gannon then earned a home win against Clarion on Saturday … Papich averaged 13.5 points while Caitlyn Lowe was at 12.0 points and Mollie Sebald was at 10.5 points for the week.

IUP
The 18th-ranked Crimson Hawks split their week, falling 71-45 to third-ranked Edinboro at home on Wednesday before rallying for a 59-55 overtime win at Mercyhurst on Saturday … In IUP’s win, the Crimson Hawks fell down by 14 in the first half before chipping away before taking their first lead at 35-34 with 10:14 left in the game … Sr. G Arika Ullman scored a career-high 18 points, knocking down 5-7 three-pointers while Jr. F Sarah Pastorek played the entire game, scoring a team-high 21 points ... In the loss to the Fighting Scots, both Pastorek and Sr. F Vianca Tejada scored 13 points, combining to go 10-17 from the floor.

Kutztown
KU's wins over Cheyney and Millersville marked the first time that the Golden Bears (6-12 overall, 4-8 PSAC) have won consecutive games this season … Junior Ashley Wood recorded double figures in scoring for the 13th time this season as she paced KU with 23 points over Cheyney and 13 against Millersville … KU placed three Golden Bears in double figures in scoring last week in each of its games.

Lock Haven
Lock Haven went 1-1 last week in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action. LHU defeated Clarion on Wednesday before falling to California (Pa.) on Saturday … The Lady Eagles are now 7-8 overall and 6-6 in the PSAC. Peaches Nesmith currently leads the team averaging 15.4 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game … Sharay Hall is second on the team in both points and rebounds averaging 12.8 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game … The Lady Eagles have a big week ahead of them that could determine their fate for the PSAC playoffs. They travel to IUP on Wednesday and host Gannon on Saturday.

Mansfield
The Mountaineers went 1-1 last week, picking up a 57-54 win on the road at Cheyney after dropping an 84-75 decision to Bloomsburg in a thrilling contest on the road ... Mansfield ranks 7th in the conference in scoring offense, averaging 65.2 points per game while surrendering an average of 69.9 points per contest (14th PSAC) ... Mallory Moore, the conference scoring and steals leader, averaged 21.0 points and 7.5 rebounds over the week. Moore picked up her third double-double of the season in the win at Cheyney, recording 18 points and 12 rebounds ... Freshman Marrysa Moyer almost averaged a double-double this past week with 10.5 points and 9.0 rebounds per contest ... The Mounties welcome Kutztown and Millersville to Decker Gymnasium in the upcoming week.

Mercyhurst
The Lakers had two heartbreaking losses this past week, falling, 57-56, to Gannon, and then dropping a 59-55 overtime game to #18 Indiana (Pa.) ... In the Gannon game, senior Megan Hoffman scored all 15 of her points in the second half, while Dana Banda posted 11 points and eight assists ... Against IUP, Hurst held the Crimson Hawks scoreless for 9:23 early in the first half, jumping out to a 16-2 advantage ... After Indiana came back, Banda made two free throws with 1.3 seconds left to send the game into overtime ... Nikki Frederickson led the way with 22 points and eight rebounds ... Mercyhurst is now 8-8 overall and 6-6 in the conference ... It travels to #3 Edinboro and California (Pa.) this week.

Millersville
The Millersville women’s basketball team played four games in seven days dating back to last Saturday, Jan. 14 … The Marauders went 2-1 on the week starting with a 66-49 win at Cheyney to state the week before taking down East Stroudsburg 74-53 on Wednesday … With the win over the Warriors head coach Mary Fleig and Millersville has now won 10-straight games over ESU dating back to 2008 … The Marauders outscored ESU on points off of turnovers to now have an 8-0 (6-0 PSAC) record when scoring more points off of turnovers than their opponent … Millersville closed out the week with its worse shooting performance of the year, shooting just 28-percent at Kutztown … The Golden Bears upset the Marauders 64-57 … Millersville is now 3-6 (2-4 PSAC) when scoring below 60 points this season.

Shippensburg
Shippensburg went 1-1 this week, losing to WCU by just five points on the road before routing ESU by 19 points ... The Raiders limited the Warriors to just six points in the first half ... SU is one game ahead of Kutztown for fourth place in the PSAC East ... The two teams meet next week ... Of Shippensburg's eight losses, five have been by five points or less ... SU has alternated wins and losses in its last six games ... Its three wins have come by an average margin of 15.3 points while the three losses have been by a total of 16 points ... Senior Monae Baker continues to lead the team in scoring (12.8 ppg) and rebounding (8.8 rpg) ... SU has shot 70 percent or better at the free-throw line in every game this season.

Slippery Rock
Slippery Rock suffered a pair of setbacks last week at California and at home against No. 3 Edinboro ... The Rock held the Scots to a season-low 24 first half points before Edinboro pulled away in the second half ... Danielle Smith continues to lead the team at 13.6 ppg and 7.8 rpg. SRU scores 59.2 ppg and allows 66.1 ppg.

West Chester
WCU defeated both Shippensburg and Bloomsburg to take over sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division ... The Golden Rams are on a season-high five-game winning streak ... WCU is off to its best start in league play since 2004-05 when they started 10-3 ... So. G Paige Elliott scored a career-high 20 points off the bench in the win over Bloomsburg ... she added six rebounds as well ... She is averaging 10 ppg over WCU's last five contests ... Meghan Kerrigan scored 10 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists against Bloomsburg ... Sr. G Allison Hostetter has 299 career assists ... One more assist and she will become the second player in WCU history to score 1,000 points, grab 600 rebounds and dish out 300 assists.
