The field consists of 56 teams across Division II. It marks the third consecutive season that the PSAC has placed five teams in the tournament.
West Chester claimed the No. 1 seed in the region and look to repeat as NCAA DII Baseball Champions after claiming the crown in 2017. The Golden Rams boast PSAC East Athlete of the Year Jared Melone while WCU sports a 31-15 record. WCU enters the postseason ranked No. 19 in the country.
Millersville earned the No. 2 seed and will serve as host of the event at Owl Fields at West Lawn in Reading, Pa. The Marauders will be led by PSAC East Pitcher of the Year, Eli Nabholz. The Marauders fell in the PSAC title game.
Bloomsburg swiped the No. 4 seed and will be under the direction of PSAC East Coach of the Year, Mike Collins. The Huskies sport a 31-18 record.
Mercyhurst earned the No. 5 seed and will ride the arm of PSAC West Pitcher of the Year, Chris Vallimont. Coach Joe Spano’s squad sits at No. 12 in the country with a 32-13 record.
Seton Hill grabbed the No. 6 seed after winning its second consecutive PSAC title with a 5-1 win. The Griffins are the first team since Kutztown (2005-06) to win back-to-back crowns. SHU’s Tyler Sullivan was named the tournament MVP after batting .500 with seven RBI and six runs scored.
Shepherd and Charleston (WV) claimed the No. 3 and No. 7 seeds, respectively.
The championship provides for two regional sites hosting six teams, four regional sites hosting seven teams and two regional sites hosting eight teams, for a total of eight regional sites. All regionals are double-elimination tournaments and will be played May 17-21. Regional champions will advance to the double-elimination championship finals May 26-June 2 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
