KATIE LYNCH

Kutztown - Elementary Education Major

Willow Street / Lampeter-Strasburg HS

Lynch is a junior catcher on Kutztown's nationally ranked softball team.  She got off to a strong start in her career when she posted a team-high .348 batting average and ranked second on her squad with 41 RBI on her way to being named PSAC Freshman of the Year in 2010.  This year she has been an instrumental force on a Golden Bear squad that has a 40-1 overall record, as she has posted a .327 average along with a team-high 10 home runs.      

Why did you choose Kutztown?

I chose Kutztown because I felt I could make an impact on the softball program. I also loved the campus and they have a very good elementary education program.
What is the biggest adjustment you had to make going from high school to college?

Time management. Managing practice, games and school work was very important going into college. The biggest adjustment with softball was the pace and competitiveness of the game.

What are your career plans?

My career plans are to become a teacher and to eventually coach.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

Stay the course and grind it out. Never doubt yourself!
What is your top collegiate athletics memory?

Being awarded PSAC Freshman of the Year.


What do you consider your most memorable athletic accomplishment throughout your life?

I played basketball all of my life and we made it to the first State Championship in the school’s history at Penn State.
What person has had the most significant influence on you from an athletics perspective?

My parents and siblings. They have been my support system through my whole athletic career.

Among athletes in the family, where do you rate?

I would rate No. 1.  All of my siblings and I get our athleticism from our dad but I would say I’m the most athletic out of our siblings.
What is the thing you’ve enjoyed most about college?

I have enjoyed meeting new people and creating unforgettable memories with my teammates.
What is your favorite pro sports team?

My favorite pro football team is the New York Giants and my favorite baseball team is the Phillies.
If I could change one thing about the sport I play, it would be:

Push the fences back due to the new technology in the bats.

Words your coach says that you swear you can hear in your sleep:

“Don’t be Womp” and “Cowgirl Up”
What is your favorite vacation spot?

The mountains and the beach! I love HIKING and four-wheeling and I love the ocean!



What is on your Ipod during pregame?

Oldies, rap, hip hop, country. 
Did you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

I have a HUGE collection of Headbands, so if I don’t play well with a certain headband I usually never wear it again! 

Who is your celebrity crush?

LIAM HEMSWORTH.


My hidden talent is:

I used to be a competition cheerleader, so I can do a back flip.



I would be a lot more effective if I would spend less time:

Playing games on my phone and less time on Twitter.

When you’re in my hometown, you should try the Ice Cream at The Strasburg Creamery.
Sport I would look bad doing, and why:

Soccer because my feet don’t really understand the concept of accurately kicking the ball.
