Cheyney University of Pennsylvania seeks applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant 2 in the department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Under the direction of the Athletic Director, this Administrative Assistant 2 is expected to exercise considerable initiative and independence with front office operations and clerical/administrative assignments to support efficient and effective operations of the department. This position is classified with the AFSCME collective bargaining unit. Salary - $42,250.

Cheyney University of Pennsylvania is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

Primary responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant 2 include, but are not limited to:

• Supporting the Athletic Director to maintain and manage departmental operations that support successful outcomes for student-athletes and staff.

• Providing essential clerical/secretarial duties related to daily operations to the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics including copying, faxing, filing, scheduling, time-keeping; arranges and participates in staff/coaches meetings as needed.

• Analyzing administrative, front-office operations, develop and recommend work standards and procedures, conduct independent research and prepare detailed and comprehensive reports of findings.

• Assisting in game management and preparation, student-athlete functions and department special events. Prepare and process outgoing mail and manage RSVP’s for special events.

• Assisting in submission of equipment maintenance repair orders for athletic facilities, including telecommunication systems, computers and office equipment.

• Monitoring and input all equipment and supply orders into SAP; Process and maintain appropriate records on purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment.

• Typing game contracts, assist with National Letters of Intent and relevant financial aid or scholarship paperwork for student-athletes.

• Scheduling appointments and travel arrangements for Director of Athletics, athletic department staff, coaches and teams.

• Interpreting and understanding University policies and procedures and provide authoritative information to others as needed.

• Gathering information required, compile data and draft required financial, statistical and narrative reports for internal or external stakeholders.

• Communicating with various University officials or Alumni groups and external constituents in a professional manner on behalf of the Intercollegiate Athletics department.

• Screening and distributing incoming correspondence, answer inquiries or direct communications to other officials for their action in a timely and professional manner.

• Organizing and maintaining department files, records and reports related to NCAA, federal government, accreditation and other regulatory bodies. Maintain all departmental files with a focus on accuracy, detail and accessibility.

• Assisting student-athletes and coaches whenever possible by resolving issues or directing them to the appropriate on or off campus resource for solutions.

• Performing other duties and contributing to special projects as assigned by the Athletic Director.

HEAD WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH



Cheyney University of Pennsylvania seeks applicants for a part-time Head Women’s Volleyball Coach.

Cheyney University is a NCAA Division II institution and a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The primary responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, coaching the sport of women’s volleyball and developing a team cohesiveness that reflects the pride of Cheyney University. Recruitment and assessment of appropriate student-athletes with the academic background and athletic talent needed to be competitive in a NCAA Division II program within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Additional responsibilities include attending department meetings, conducting meetings with volunteer assistant coaches, monitor academic study rooms, distributing practice and recruiting area assignments, monitoring budget, scheduling of opponents, awarding athletic scholarships, eligibility, facility requests for matches, practices, major repairs and/or equipment purchases, game administration, coordinating team travel, assisting in the coordination of fund-raising activities, advising student-athletes and coordinating community service.
Salary is $27, 500 for this a 10 month position.

Education & Training: The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree and have knowledge of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations. Requirements include coaching and recruitment experience as follows:
• Minimum of 1 year as full time Assistant Coach on D-1 or D-2 or 2 years as a graduate
assistant coach OR
• Minimum of 3 years as a D-3 Head Coach OR
• Minimum of 3 years as a Head Coach in High School or Club Level OR
• Four years successful playing experience on the Division I or II level.
