PSAC Softball Athletes of the Week - 3 Monday, March 5, 2018 2:30 PM SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Morgan Cannin Pitt-Johnstown (Jr. / OF) Jenners, Pa. / North Star Cannin hit .500 in a pair of games. The junior went 2-for-4 against Georgian Court before duplicating the success in a contest against Urbana. Against Urbana, she scored a pair of runs and drew a walk. SOFTBALL CENTRAL DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Ashley Pagliei Pitt-Johnstown (Fr. / P) Latrobe, Pa. / Greater Latrobe Despite taking the loss in her first collegiate start, Pagliei scattered five hits in a complete game effort while striking out three against Georgian Court. She walked one and allowed an earned run. SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION CO-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Sofia Cecchin East Stroudsburg (Fr. / INF) Castelfranco Veneto, Italy / Liceo Giorgione Cecchin went 5 for 12 with five stolen bases, four runs scored and three RBIs in a 3-1 weekend for ESU at Virginia State. The freshman went 2 for 3 with three steals, three runs and an RBI in a 9-1, six-inning victory on Sunday. Cecchin went 2 for 3 with a walk, two RBIs and a stolen base in an 11-2 win on Saturday. SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION CO-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Faith Willenbrock Millersville (Fr. / OF) Glenmoore, Pa. / Dowingtown East Willenbrock had her eye on the ball Sunday when she went 3-4 in game two and 1-4 in game one against Shepherd. Two of those hits were triples. The pivotal inning in game one was the bottom of sixth when the Marauders scored six runs. Willenbrock led the charge with a hit over the left fielder's reach and sped to third base. The triple drove in two and tied the game at 8-8. In game two, Willenbrock hit a solo blast (first of her career) in the fourth to make the score 11-9. SOFTBALL EASTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Taylor Keeney East Stroudsburg (Fr. / P) Northampton, Pa. / Northampton Keeney tossed 11 scoreless innings during a 3-1 weekend for ESU at Virginia State. She registered her first collegiate victory in a 2-0 win on Sunday, throwing a six-hit seven-inning shutout while striking out four. Keeney stranded the bases loaded in both the second and seventh innings, and struck out the side in the third after the first two batters reached base. The freshman threw four scoreless innings in relief of a 3-1 setback on Saturday. She struck out four, and retired the final nine batters. SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION ATHLETE OF THE WEEK Rachel Tanilli Gannon (So. / OF) Gibsonia, Pa. / Deer Lakes Tanilli led the Lady Knights with a .370 batting average in nine games last week. She had 10 hits in 27 at-bats with three doubles and a home run. She compiled a .593 slugging percentage tied for a team-high seven RBIs. She also was four-for-four on stolen bases and scored four runs. SOFTBALL WESTERN DIVISION PITCHER OF THE WEEK Kellyn Perich Gannon (Sr. / P/OF) Venetia, Pa. / Peters Township Perich pitched 19.2 innings in the circle last week, posting a 1.07 ERA and picking up her first pitching victory of the season. She started three games and pitched one to completion. In those 19 innings, Perich allowed only one extra-base hit and gave up just three earned runs.
