1,022 PSAC Student-Athletes Receive D2ADA Achievement Award

CLEVELAND, Ohio --- 1,022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference student-athletes received the 2016-17 Division 2 Athletics Directors Association Achievement Award, the association announced over the weekend.
 
In total, a record 10,644 student-athletes from 183 institutions are being recognized for the 2016-17 Academic Achievement Awards
 
For the fifth-consecutive year, the PSAC boasted the most representatives while the Northeast-10 Conference had 941 student-athletes and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference followed suit with 865 selections.
 
Seton Hill (143), West Chester (117), IUP (102) and East Stroudsburg (100) all had at least 100 representatives. SHU boasted the third-highest number behind Rollins (180) and Florida Southern (150).
 
“I am very pleased with the emphasis the league makes towards academic success,” praised PSAC Commissioner Steve Murray. “This award gives the student-athletes an additional platform to showcase their efforts in the classroom, as well as on the playing field.” 
 
In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution MUST BE CURRENT dues-paying member of the D2 ADA. 

Also, the student-athlete must:
  • have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
  • have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
  • have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
