PSAC Spring Top 10 Honorees Announced
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. --- The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference is pleased to announce its Spring 2017 Top 10 Award recipients, chosen and voted on by the league’s sports information directors. The PSAC Top 10 Awards are designed to recognize student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and in athletic competition.
Initiated in the 1997-98 academic year, the Top 10 is given to five males and five females in each athletic season; fall, winter and spring.
The Spring 2017 award winners are Slippery Rock’s Sabrina Anderson, Shippensburg’s Caleb Bartlett, IUP’s Austin Cooper, Slippery Rock’s Kennedy Evans, Clarion’s Tyler Falk, Mercyhurst’s Saioa Gomez de Segura, Gannon’s Olivia Gumbita, California’s Emily Price, Slippery Rock’s David Reinhardt and East Stroudsburg’s Alex Zubko.
SRU’s Anderson becomes the second student-athlete in PSAC history to appear on a Top 10 list on six occasions. SRU’s Reinhardt appears on his third Spring Top 10 list while Falk and Gomez de Segura land on the list for the second consecutive year.

Women's Outdoor Track & Field - Senior
Major: Master of Business Administration (UG: Exercise Science)
Cumulative GPA: 3.91 (UG), 4.0 (G)
Competed indoor and outdoor on two torn ankle ligaments that required surgery after PSAC outdoor championships ... battled through that injury to place second and earn All-PSAC honors in the seven- event heptathlon at the PSAC Championships, her sixth straight All-PSAC finish in the multi-event competition at PSAC championship events ... first team CoSIDA Academic All-District ... All-Region in the heptathlon with the second best score in the region this spring ... Completed 30 graduate credits while taking classes 30 miles from campus in less than one year while competing this season ... Anderson has proven to be one of the top student-athletes in PSAC history, as her accolades display ... she was the 2015-16 PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year and is a five-time PSAC Top 10 honoree, being named to the team in every season she has been eligible so far, including this winter ... two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, including a first team honoree last year ... on the Academic All- America ballot again this year (team is announced late June) ... all-time PSAC record holder in pentathlon indoor (3,818 points) and first team All-American in the event last winter before suffering the ankle injuries this year ... despite competing on torn ligaments, still won her third straight PSAC title in the pentathlon indoor this year and was All-Region in the multi both indoor and outdoor ... graduated with her undergrad degree in exercise science in just three years with a 3.91 GPA and 143 completed credits in those three years ... will finish her entire MBA graduate degree in less than one year after taking 30 credits heading into this summer, posting a 4.0 GPA this year ... in total, Anderson has completed 173 academic credits in less than four full years, while earning All-America honors on the track as well ... Dean’s List every semester ... USTFCCCA All-Academic each year ... All-Region each season. |

PSAC Champion in 400-meter hurdles ... also posted fastest 100-meter hurdle time in PSAC this season and ran legs of the fastest 4x100-meter and 4x400-meter relays in the PSAC this spring ... posted NCAA marks in all four events she ran this spring ... had 10th best 400-meter hurdle time in the nation of 59.80 seconds ... qualified for National Championships in both 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles outdoor ... first team CoSIDA Academic All-District .... USTFCCCA All-Region in three different events for posting a top five mark among all athletes in the region and a top three relay mark in the region (100m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 4x400m relay) ... Segura was tabbed the PSAC Tennis West Athlete of the Year in 2016-17. The junior won the Atlantic Region singles and doubles title in 2016-17 while being named a PSAC Champion Scholar and an Elite 90 Award receipient. |

PSAC champion and national qualifier in hammer throw, finishing one spot shy of All-America honors at nationals ... broke SRU record in the hammer when he won the event at PSAC meet with the ninth best throw in the nation this year (61.59 meters) ... had NCAA marks and ranked in the top 20 in both the hammer and the javelin ... scored 16 points at PSAC championships by placing in the hammer, javelin and discus to help SRU to a second place finish in the team standings ... took 20 700-level doctoral credits during the spring semester alone, most of which were in clinical settings 60 miles from campus ... first team CoSIDA Academic All-District ... success this year came after missing entire 2015-16 indoor and outdoor seasons after having Tommy John surgery on throwing elbow ... To be a candidate for the PSAC Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials for their respective team. The spring sports eligible for consideration for the Spring Top 10 Awards are men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field, softball, baseball and women’s lacrosse.
At the conclusion of the academic year, all Top 10 Award winners from each season are eligible for the PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards, given to one male and one female candidate.
