Shippensburg Sweeps PSAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

DAY THREE RECAP
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- The Shippensburg Raiders swept the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday afternoon in Bloomsburg, Pa.
It marked the eighth consecutive title for the women while the men’s side have claimed nine straight crowns.
Slippery Rock finished second in both standings while East Stroudsburg claimed third on the men’s side and Bloomsburg took third on the women’s.
SU sophomore Chris Craig claimed the title in the 100-meter dash with a sparkling time of 10.71 seconds. He followed suit with a win in the 200-meter in 21.22.
Seton Hill sophomore Dontay Jacobs won the 400-meter dash in 47.60 while IUP junior Austin Cooper took the gold in the men’s 1500-meter run in a time of 3:52.59.
Lock Haven junior Addison Monroe continued his solid season with a win in the 5000 with a time of 14:41.04.
ESU’s Steven Morgan earned the win in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 14.39 while SRU’s Jacob VanHouten raced to a win in the 400-meter hurdles with at time of 52.94.
SRU quartet Collin Darby, Jeff Bailey, Ian Nieves and Brandon Vanderbrook won the 4x100 relay in 41.04.
California claimed the win in the 4x400 relay following a strong effort from Jae’Len Means, Brett George, Aaron Morgan and Joe Vedilago. The quartet turned in a time of 3:17.26.
SU’s Matthew Gross, Connor Holm, Timmy Usher and Dominic Stroh paced the field in the 4x800 with a time of 7:52.39.
IUP’s Derek Horton impressed with a win at pole vault when he cleared 5.13 meters.
SRU junior Caleb Smithco leapt to a victory in the triple jump with a distance of 14.86 meters.
SU senior Derek Nothstein won the javelin with a heave of 64.73 meters.
On the women’s side, IUP’s Carly Petney claimed gold in the 100-meter dash in 12.36 seconds while SHU sophomore Ameriah Walters won the 200 in 24.44.
IUP junior Heather Sternby won the 400 in a time of 57.14 while Cal’s Summer Hill earned another victory in the 1500 in a time of 4:39.58.
Cal’s Julie Friend swiped a win in the 5000 with a time of 16:58.58.
ESU sophomore Aspen Gaita claimed a victory in the 100-meter hurdles in 13.94.
SRU senior Kennedy Evans turned in a sub-one minute time in the 400-meter hurdles to win the event in 59.80.
West Chester’s Jasmine Noble, Alyson Hall, Emily Magnant and Caroline McLaughlin combined to win the 4x100 relay in 47.28.
IUP’s Lizzy Cunningham, Jada Wilson, Emily Dubler and Sternby paced the field in the 4x400 with a time of 3:49.53.
WCU won the 4x800 in 9:18.85.
BU’s Amanda Simone won the high jump with a height of 1.67 meters while SU’s Sarah Hunt grabbed a win in the triple jump with a distance of 12.18 meters.
Edinboro’s Gabby Schultz won the discus throw with a mark of 48.09 meters. SU sophomore Morgan DeFloria won the javelin with a heave of 44.35 meters.
The NCAA DII National Championships will take place May 25-27 in Bradenton, Fla.

DAY TWO RECAP
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- Shippensburg's men currently hold the team lead while SU's women and Slippery Rock are tied for first on the women's side following day two of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
In men's action, Kutztown sophomore Jared Luckanitz claimed the gold in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.56 while SRU's Ryan Thompson (1:52.04) and IUP's Austin Cooper (1:52.37) finished second and third, respectively.
West Chester's Justus Norman won the long jump with a distance of 7.35 meters.
SU senior Jalen Ramsey claimed the victory in the high jump with a height of 2.10 meters.
Fellow Raider and junior Bryan Pearson dominated in the shot put and cruised to a win with a toss of 17.19 meters.
SRU senior David Reinhardt impressed with a win in the hammer throw with a distance of 61.59 meters.
WCU senior Colin Vannicolo won the decathlon after amassing 6637 points in the event.
Edinboro sophomore Gene Baritot took the gold with ease in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:11.38.
On the women's side, California junior Summer Hill won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:11.96.
SU junior Bryanna Dissinger won the 3000-meter steeplechase in 11:02.53.
SRU took the top three spots in the pole vault while sophomore Courtney McQuaide earned the win when she cleared 3.96 meters.
Bloomsburg senior Kaylee Caruso snagged a win in the long jump with a distance of 6.25 meters.
Millersville sophomore Sunflower Greene claimed a win in the shot put following a heave of 14.92 meters. She followed suit with a dominating win in the hammer throw with a distance of 58.26 meters.
Seton Hill senior Angela McCowin gutted out a winning performance in the heptathlon after producing 4473 points.
Saturday, the final day of competition, is set to begin at 11 a.m.

DAY ONE RECAP
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- The decathlon and heptathlon began while the 10,000-meter races took place during day one of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Thursday in Bloomsburg, Pa.
On the men's side, IUP senior Greg Beaudette won the 10K in close fashion after he turned in a time of 31:38.66.
On the women's side, California junior Julie Friend impressed with a victory in the 10K with a time of 37:33.34.
Lock Haven's men leads the team standings after one event with 11 points while Bloomsburg's women pace the field with 13 points.
CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
BLOOMSBURG, Pa. --- The 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships will take place May 4-6 in Bloomsburg, Pa.
The event will take place at Robert B. Redman Stadium on the campus of Bloomsburg University and will cost $10 for adults and $5 for students.
On the women's side, Shippensburg has claimed seven consecutive titles while Slippery Rock leads the PSAC with 15 overall.
SU amassed 177 points in 2016 to win the team title while SRU and Millersville finished second and third, respectively.
On the men's side, SU has won the last eight championships and is one away from tying West Chester for the most titles overall.
The men's decathlon is set to commence Thursday, May 4 at 11 a.m. with the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meter dash.
The women's heptathlon will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200-meter dash.
