CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. ---
The West Chester Golden Rams won the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Field Hockey Championship after defeating East Stroudsburg, 3-0, on a dreary Sunday afternoon at the Robb Sports Complex in Shippensburg, Pa.
 
The Golden Rams (15-6) won their third PSAC title and first since 2014. The Warriors dropped to 17-4 on the season while goalie Halle Frisco made three saves in the contest.
 
WCU did not allow a goal in its three postseason contests during its championship run.
 
WCU’s Rachal Toppi put the Golden Rams on the board at the 10:02 mark when she received a Kelsy Munster pass and finished off the shot towards the left post.
 
All-PSAC First-Team representative Kaitlin Hatch put WCU up by a pair when she retrieved an Emily Evans pass and score from five yards out.
 
Toppi notched her second goal of the contest with 6:58 remaining in regulation to make it 3-0.
 
Toppi was named the tournament MVP.
 
The NCAA DII Field Hockey Tournament selection show is set for Monday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. The tournament field consists of six teams.

CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. ---
The 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Field Hockey Championship field has been set following the conclusion of the regular season, the conference announced.
 
Six teams will duke it out for the PSAC Field Hockey crown while the No. 1 and No. 2 seed earned first-round byes.
 
The Shippensburg Raiders earned the No. 1 seed after posting a 14-3, 9-1 PSAC record and will host the semifinals (Fri., Nov. 3) and final (Sun., Nov. 5). SU fell in the PSAC title game in 2016, however, rebounded to win the NCAA DII National Championship. The Raiders will face the winner of West Chester and Bloomsburg Friday at 1 p.m.
 
Millersville grabbed the No. 2 seed and boasts a 14-4, 8-2 record. The Marauders won their fourth PSAC title last season with a 2-1 victory against SU. Millersville will take on the winner of East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock Friday at 3:30 p.m.
 
ESU claimed the No. 3 seed and is the only school in the league with 15 wins in 2017. The Warriors won the 2015 NCAA DII National Championship. ESU will host Slippery Rock in a quarterfinal Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m.
 
WCU is slotted at the No. 4 seed and are winners of its last three contests. The Golden Rams have won six of their last seven and will host BU at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
 
BU claimed the No. 5 seed after posting a 10-8, 6-4 record. The Huskies trek to WCU and has fallen twice this season to the Golden Rams.
 
SRU earned the No. 6 seed and is 10-8, 5-5 on the season.

No. 6 Slippery Rock at No. 3 East Stroudsburg – 1 p.m.
No. 5 Bloomsburg at No. 4 West Chester – 4 p.m.
 
Semifinal – Friday, Nov. 3 (at Shippensburg)
