Eighteen PSAC Athletes Earn All-America at NCAA Track & Field Championships
Allendale, Mich. – Twelve PSAC Track & Field Athletes earned First Team All-American honors at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships last weekend in Allendale, Mich. An additional six PSAC athletes were awarded All-America Second Team status. The top eight finishers in each event become All-Americans, while athletes who place 9
th-12
th earn the Second Team distinction.
Seton Hill’s
Mallory Sanner earned the highest finish of any PSAC athlete, placing third in the javelin. Sanner recorded a distance of 51.41m (168’ 8”). Slippery Rock’s
Samantha Taylor also earned First Team All-American with a throw of 49.04m (160’ 11”), which earned her a sixth place finish. Seton Hill’s
Jessica Slagus was named Second Team All-American with a 10
th place finish and a throw of 44.71m (146’ 8”).
Bloomsburg’s
Kate Dodds recorded a third place finish in the women’s 10,000-meter run with a time of 34:52.26 to become a First Team All-American.
Two PSAC athletes became First Team All-Americans in the high jump. East Stroudsburg’s
Christina O’Connor placed sixth with just one miss at 1.73m (5’ 8”). Slippery Rock’s
Ashley West finished in eighth place with two misses at the same height.
On the track, Shippensburg’s
Briana Fells placed eighth in the 400-meters. Millersville’s
Erin Madison also placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.97.
In the women’s pole vault, The Rock’s
Kaitlyn Clark tied for 12
th to earn Second Team All-America. Clark cleared 3.70m.
Shippensburg’s
Sarah Hunt earned Second Team status in the long jump, clearing 5.86m (19’ 2.75”), good for 12
th place.
On the men’s side, Shippensburg’s
Jacob Sunday recorded the highest finish of any PSAC male athlete, placing fourth in the javelin. Sunday recorded a throw of 68.65m (225’ 2”). Teammate
Andrew Korrubin also became an All-American with a distance of 65.92m (216’ 3”) and an eighth place finish.
Fellow Raider
Grant Smith placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 17.93m (58’ 10”), while
LeQuan Chapman placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 7.52m (24’ 8.25”).
In the high jump, East Stroudsburg’s
Will Berry became a Second Team All-American with a jump of 2.10m (6’ 10.75”) and a 10
th place finish.
Kutztown’s
Lanny Buck cleared 5.05m (16’ 6.75”) in the pole vault to place ninth.
On the track, Shippensburg’s
Eric Bologa placed sixth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.21. Teammate
Peter Gelston claimed seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 8:56.48.
