Lock Haven, Pa. – PSAC East Athlete of the Year Marla Simmons of Bloomsburg and PSAC West Athlete of the Year Lindsay Stamp of IUP highlight the 2015 PSAC Women’s Basketball All-Conference teams, as selected by the leagues’ head coaches. Kutztown’s Advia Campbell earned East Defensive Athlete of the Year honors for the second straight year, and D’Asia Chambers of Slippery Rock was named the West’s Defensive Athlete of the Year.

California’s Seairra Barrett was named the West Division’s Freshman of the Year, while Camden Boehner of Bloomsburg captured the East freshman honor. California’s Jess Strom and Bloomsburg’s Bill Cleary were awarded their respective division’s PSAC Coach of the Year accolades.

Simmons, the second consecutive PSAC East Athlete of the Year from Bloomsburg, averages 14.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.6 steals per contest. The All-PSAC First Team honoree ranks second in the league in free throw percentage (.870). The senior of Lebanon, Pa. has scored in double-digits in 12 of the last 13 games, including a season-high 30-point performance against Shippensburg. During her time in maroon and gold, Simmons has been a part of a Bloomsburg career record 100 victories and four outright PSAC Eastern Division regular season titles. Simmons is the 11th Husky to earn the PSAC East Athlete of the Year laurel and the third in the last four years.

Entering the PSAC Final Four, Stamp ranks in the top 20 in Division II with 20.1 points per game and in the top 10 in the PSAC with 8.2 rebounds per game. Stamp heads a Crimson Hawk offense that is leading the league with 78.3 points per contest and a 19.2 scoring margin. Stamp has eclipsed 20 points 15 times this season, including a season-best 32 points against Pitt-Johnstown in late February. The two-time All-PSAC First Team selection averages 2.5 assists per contest alongside 1.6 steals and 0.7 blocks.  Stamp is just the second IUP athlete to earn PSAC West Athlete of the Year honors and the first since Jahzinga Tracey was co-awarded with Brooque Williams of California in 2009. Tracey also was named the division’s athlete of the year in 2007.

Campbell ranks fourth in the league in blocks per game with 2.0 and has denied 55 opponent shots this season, while also averaging 1.3 steals per contest. The All-PSAC First Team honoree finished her senior season ranked fourth in the Eastern Division with 8.4 rebounds per game including 169 boards off of the defensive glass. The Mount Laurel, N.J. native surpassed the 1,000-career point milestone in the first round of the playoffs, and finishes her career ranked fifth in Kutztown history with 739 rebounds, while her 183 career blocks is second and 182 steals is sixth.

Chambers led a Slippery Rock defense that ranked third in the league in defensive rebounds with 28.1 per contest, as she averaged 7.8 defensive boards and 9.6 overall. The two-time All-PSAC First Team honoree totaled 43 steals and 19 blocks on the season, while pouring-in 16.8 points per contest ranking her second in the PSAC. Chambers is the first PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year from Slippery Rock since the award was introduced in 2012, and she is the first conference major award winner from The Rock since Becky Siembak earned West Rookie of the Year in 2000.

Boehner averages 9.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists in 19.6 minutes per contest heading in the PSAC Championship weekend. She leads the Huskies with 42 3-pointers for an average of 1.6 per game. The Gettysburg, Pa. native has scored in double-digits 11 times in 2014-15, including a career-high 23 points at Cheyney in late January. She is the eighth PSAC East Freshman of the Year from Bloomsburg and the first since Dana Wieller earned the honor in 2010.

Barrett, the second straight Vulcan PSAC West Freshman of the Year, is averaging 7.6 points with a .520 field goal percentage and 5.4 rebounds in her rookie season. She has 13 double-digit scoring performances under her belt in 2014-15, including a 17-point and 12-rebound showing in the regular season finale against Slippery Rock. Barrett, a 6-foot Center Township, Pa. native is the fifth PSAC West Freshman of the Year from California.

Cleary, in his seventh season with Bloomsburg, has won his second straight PSAC East Coach of the Year laurel. Also named Coach of the Year in 2011, he has led the Huskies to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, and five straight PSAC Eastern Division regular season titles. Over the last five years, Cleary has guided the Huskies to a 122-26 overall record.

Strom, in her fourth year at the helm of the California program, has led the Vulcans to their first PSAC Final Four trip since 2011. With 24 victories, the Vulcans have already clinched the program’s winningest season since the 2009-10 campaign that finished with a 24-8 mark. The 2015 PSAC West Coach of the Year honor is the first of Strom’s career.

The All-PSAC teams feature one four-time honoree in Jessica Martin of East Stroudsburg and a pair of three-time selections, West Chester’s Brittany Sicinski and Gannon’s Nettie Blake. West Chester’s Dallas Ely, Chambers, and Stamp are all repeat First Team awardees.
