PREVIEW

Slippery Rock, Pa. - On Saturday, October 24, 18 women's teams and 16 men's teams from around the PSAC will run in the 2015 PSAC Cross Country Championships hosted by Slippery Rock at Cooper's Lake Campground.

The women's 6K race will begin at 10:00 a.m., while the men's 8K race is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m. An awards ceremony will be held following both races at approximately 12:00 p.m.

On the women's side, Edinboro will defend its 2014 crown and come into the race ranked 25th in Division II. The top returner from last year for the Fighting Scots is Anna Hosl, who finished in eighth place at last year's PSAC Championship.

Edinboro will also rely on freshman Ida Narbuvoll, who has impressed in her debut season.

Bloomsburg finished behind Edinboro last season, but comes into this year's meet ranked 13th in the country, best in the PSAC. Lauren Lehman, last year's winner, has graduated, but the Huskies return a trio of all-conference runners. Kate Dodds finished in fourth place last year, while Hannah Boudreau came in 15th, and Teresa Ortiz was the 17th place finisher.

Currently ranked 22nd in Division II, Shippensburg finished in third place last year. Lizzie Manickas was the highest finishing freshman last year, crossing the finish line in 12th place.

The top finisher returning from last year's race is East Stroudsburg's Allison Decker, who finished in second place with a time of 21:24.6. Other returners from the Top 10 include West Chester's Amanda Eisman (5th), ESU's Chelsea Conover (6th), IUP's Rachel Magliane (7th), Seton Hill's Meagan Carter (9th), and Slippery Rock's Jenny Picot (10th).

For the men, the top finishers will look much different, as last year's top three finishers, and five of the top seven, have all graduated.

The top returning runner is Dylan Mountain from Lock Haven. Mountain, who finished fourth last year, will look to lead the Bald Eagles their third straight title. Fellow senior Matt Guiod was another Top 10 finisher for LHU last year, finishing in ninth place. LHU is currently ranked ninth in Division II.

Right behind Lock Haven in the national ranking is the same team that finished just behind them at last year's PSAC Championship: Shippensburg.

The Red Raiders currently sit 11th in Division II and although they graduated last year's runner-up (Brayden Burleigh), they return last year's eighth place finisher, Austin McGinley. In addition to McGinley, Kieran Sutton and Cole Nissley return for SU after being named All-PSAC Second Team last year.

Edinboro finished in third last year and brings back top five finisher Elliott Martynkiewic. Jon Gusew, who finished in 21st last year, also returns for the Fighting Scots, who are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region.

Alex Hampel from IUP is the only other participant in this year's championship who finished in the Top 10 last season. The Crimson Hawks are currently ranked third in the Atlantic Region.
