IUP's Matthew Rutt captures Champion Scholar in Men's Indoor Track and Field
Lewisburg, Pa. - IUP’s senior Matthew Rutt earned the PSAC Champion Scholar award in men’s indoor track and field, announced Sunday at the PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championship at Bucknell University.
The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III.
Rutt holds an impressive 3.952 GPA while having completed 124 credits toward his graduate degree in exercise science. He previously received the Champion Scholar award in 2011-2012 for indoor track and field and in 2012-2013 for outdoor track and field. Rutt is a native from Sinking Spring, Pa. an a graduate from Wilson High School.
