PSAC All-Conference History

Lock Haven, Pa. – Kutztown’s junior Rushi Amin has been named the PSAC Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Year, becoming the third Golden Bear in the last five seasons to garner the award. Edinboro’s Colin Bandell earned the PSAC Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Year award, while Kutztown coach, Suresh Ramamurthi was named the Coach of the Year.

Amin, a singles and doubles All-Conference selection, heads into NCAA D-II Atlantic Regional play with a 15-1 singles record and an overall mark of 15-3 record at No. 1 doubles. Alongside All-Conference doubles selection Vaurn Desai, the pair is currently a flawless 8-0. Amin was also named the PSAC Team Men’s Tennis Championship Most Valuable Player, as he led his team to the program’s 11th league title in school history.

Bandell capped his rookie season with a 20-8 singles record ranging from No. 3-6 singles. The singles All-Conference selection lost just one PSAC match all season at singles. Bandell defeated his singles opponent in the PSAC Team Tennis Championship semifinals and avenged his only PSAC loss against Patricio Hernandez of Kutztown in the title match.

Ramamurthi has now won Coach of the Year honors on four occasions during his tenure at Kutztown. He has led the Golden Bears to the program’s 11th PSAC title in history and its fourth in the last five seasons. Kutztown will also be making its fourth appearance in five years in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional with a Sunday, February 28, match against Shaw. Ramamurthi has earned Coach of the Year league honors in both 2009 and 2007, while also earning the title in 2002 alongside the NCAA D-II East Region Coach of the Year nod.

Amin is the lone singles repeat from a year ago, while Mercyhurst’s Jorn van der Veer has earned slots on the All-Conference list in doubles twice before, as he makes his first appearance on the list as a singles selection.
