PSAC Women's Basketball All-Conference History

Lock Haven, Pa. – The 2012-13 PSAC Women’s Basketball All-Conference teams are led by the East’s Athlete of the Year Aurielle Mosley of Millersville and Gannon’s Jen Papich, the West Athlete of the Year. West Chester’s Alex Lennon claimed the East’s Defensive Athlete of the Year award, while Samantha Blazetic of Edinboro earned the West’s defensive honors.

Mosley is second in league in scoring with 15.4 points per game while also contributing 9.7 boards a contest. The senior forward recently broke the Marauder rebounding record with a career mark of 1,012 boards, surpassing the previous 1,005 record. For the third straight season, Mosley has led her squad in scoring and rebounding, while also leading her team during 2012-13 in blocks with 66, good for third in the league. With her first team All-Conference selection, Mosley is a three-time first team honoree.

The West’s Athlete of the Year, Jen Papich of Gannon, has netted 384 points in just over 800 minutes of action so far this season, and is averaging a league top-ten and team-high 13.2 points per game. Papich has been a key factor in her team’s success this season and has turned-up her game in the second
half of the conference schedule and into the postseason, as she has reached double digits on the scoreboard in nine of her last 10 outings.

The Defensive Athletes of the Year are the league’s blocked shots leaders. Lennon of West Chester averaged 3.8 a game for a total 102 blocks this season, while Blazetic of Edinboro swatted away 2.4 shots per game and recorded a total 64 stuffs. Lennon also pulled down an average 5.0 defensive rebounds, a total of 135, good enough for seventh in the conference. Blazetic pulls-down 4.7 defensive rebounds a game and has collected 128 during the season.

Shippensburg’s Stephanie Knauer has had a memorable rookie season that clinched her East Freshman of the Year. Knauer sits fourth in the conference in rebounds with 9.1 per game, while also ranking in the top 15 in points per game with an average of 12.9.

In the West, Aignee Freeland of Edinboro leads the Fighting Scots in rebounding, as the West Freshman of the Year pulls down an average 7.8 per contest. She also is shooting a team best .519 from the field and averaging just over seven points per outing.

The PSAC Coach of the Year awards were also released, with Gannon’s Cleve Wright and Shippensburg’s Kristy Trn taking the honors. The winningest coach in Lady Raider basketball history, Trn has earned her third Coach of the Year honor in her 14-season career with the Raiders. Wright, in his 11th season at the helm of the Lady Knights’ program, earned the award once before in 2010. He too is the program’s all-time winningest coach in the history of the women’s basketball program.

This season’s All-Conference teams feature eight-first team repeats from previous seasons including Mosley and Dana Wieller of Bloomsburg, who have both now earned three first team honors in their careers.
