AMY HALLS

Slippery Rock - Business Major

Westerville, Ohio / Olentangy HS

Halls plays the attack position as a senior on Slippery Rock's women's lacrosse team.  The three-time All-PSAC selection has been instrumental in rise of The Rock's program, leading the team to increased win totals in each of her three seasons after joining a team that had yet to win a game in the two previous years.  Already the school's all-time scoring leader, Halls set the single-season scoring record as a freshman (66 points) and broke it again last year with 70 points off of 61 goals and nine assists.

Why did you choose Slippery Rock?

I honestly still am not sure. The thing that attracted me was the brand new dorms. Other than that, I’ll let you know once I figure it out!
What is the biggest adjustment you had to make going from high school to college?

Living on my own and not constantly having my family around to support me.

What is the thing you’ve enjoyed most about college?

The wonderful group of FRIENDS I have made.  Thank you Lexy, Katie, Sam, Dakota, Emma and Casey for being such great friends!

What are your career plans?

I am hoping to be a pharmaceutical sales representative or hold some other job within the pharmaceutical industry.
What is your top collegiate athletics memory?

Breaking the women's lacrosse all-time scoring record my junior year…. Hopefully that will becoming making it to PSAC playoffs my senior season.

... your most memorable athletic accomplishment throughout your life?

Winning Ohio’s Division II State Championship my freshman year of high school.

If I could change one thing about the sport I play, it would be:

Being able to hit and check people. It would make the game way more exciting.

What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?

I have always been told to give it my best no matter the circumstance.
Among athletes in the family, where do you rate?

Well, let’s just say my family is a bit obsessed with sports. My dad played baseball at Youngstown State. My older sister, ALLYSON was a standout Division I volleyball player at James Madison University. My younger sister, AMANDA played Division I volleyball at Towson University until her athletic career was put on hold due to medical reasons. And then there’s me, the non-volleyball player. So by default, I rate first since I am the only lacrosse player!

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

Well, it all starts with what color bow I am going to wear in my hair. After that tough decision is made I like to go shoot around while listening to my iPod. We have a set group for line drills which has been the same since my freshman year.

What person has had the most significant influence on you from an athletics perspective?

My PARENTS, they are the best anyone could ask for. They have provided so many opportunities for me and I am very thankful to have them.

Who is your favorite athlete?

Omar Vizquel

I would be a lot more effective if I would spend less time:

Playing on Twitter and Facebook
Who is your celebrity crush?

Gerard Butler
Stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you bring?

Candy, mascara, and maybe a cute guy
What is your favorite vacation spot?

The Cayman Islands

My hidden talent is:

Tumbling and flips  (used to be a GYMNAST for eight years)

What is on your iPod during pregame?

Whatever my roommate Lexy has on her iPod. Unfortunately, I still haven’t downloaded iTunes!

Words your coach says that you swear you can hear in your sleep:

“AMY, NO CHECKING…GET YOUR ARMS DOWN!”

The most addictive snack food for me is:

Oreos, chocolate cake, or really anything sweet

Fill in the blanks:

When you’re in my hometown, you should try the Buckeyes at any OSU affiliated place!

What is your favorite pro sports team?

The CLEVELAND INDIANS… we grew up outside of Cleveland and have been going to games since we were little.

Sport I would look bad doing and why:

Basketball - the whole shorts that go past my knees would not work out (They make my legs look short). Oh and I attempted it in middle school and got cut from the team.
