He is coming off a 2011 season in which he led the team with 13 extra base hits, made the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team and was the only sophomore named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team. Through 34 games in 2012 he remains one of the team's top threats, having collected 31 RBI, 27 walks, 19 stolen bases and a .458 on-base percentage. Why did you choose East Stroudsburg? It is close to my home and I can get home if I need to get away or see my family. What is the biggest adjustment you had to make going from high school to college? Making time to get work done for classes, and being away from home and family for longer amounts of time. What is the thing you’ve enjoyed most about college? Meeting new people and studying material that interests me within my major. What are your career plans? My plan is to land a job in the earth science field. The backup is to work for the railroad and continue working on my family’s farms. What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Don’t give up, leave the bad in the past and make room for the good to come. What person has had the most significant influence on you from an athletics perspective? My parents got me involved in sports and took me anywhere I needed to go to practice or play so I could get better. What is your top collegiate athletics memory? Making the NCAA Tournament and finishing third in the region last season. What do you consider your most memorable athletic accomplishment throughout your life? Getting the game-tying hit in the bottom of the 9th of our first NCAA Tournament win last season. Among athletes in the family, where do you rate? I'm the only member of my family to play college sports -- my dad played tennis in high school. What is your favorite pro sports team? New York Yankees in baseball and Dallas Cowboys in football. Who is your favorite athlete and why? Mickey Mantle – he played outfield like me and was a great hitter. After reading biographies about him it just clicked with me because he was a true ball player. He is the reason I chose to wear #7. If I could change one thing about the sport I play, it would be: Not getting frustrated when that day isn’t going well for me. Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions? Do the same routine to get ready. Before each game I say a few words as a prayer and rub my #7 necklace for good luck. My hidden talent is: Knowing where I am without maps or GPS and always being able to find my way on roads I’ve never traveled – my nickname is MAPQUEST. I would be a lot more effective if I would spend less time: Photographing and watching trains or looking at railroad-related books, DVD’s and magazines. Who is your celebrity crush? Carrie Underwood Fill in the blanks: When you’re in my hometown, you should try the 309 Omelet at the Coopersburg Diner. Words your coach says that you swear you can hear in your sleep: Win anyway. What’s on your Ipod during pregame? Country music. Sport I would look bad doing, and why: Tennis – every ball I hit would be out of bounds, into the net or over the fence. The most addictive snack food for me is: HERSHEY'S MILK CHOCOLATE NUGGETS. What is your favorite vaction spot? Anywhere in the western US - the scenery and land formations make the East look boring.
