California's Erin Kling Garners PSAC Champion Scholar Award for Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship

Edinboro, Pa. - California junior Erin Kling was presented with the PSAC Champion Scholar Award for the women's indoor track & field championship at the conference meet two weekends ago. Kling was presented with the award on the first day of the championship at Edinboro.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III. Kling is the inaugural recipient of the award for women's indoor track & field as the Champion Scholar Awards are being initiated during the current academic year.

Kling currently has a perfect 4.0 grade point average while having compiled 91 credit hours in just five semesters. A native of Jamestown, N.Y. and a graduate of Jamestown High School, Kling is majoring in biology.
