PSAC Student-Athlete Feature - Fred Breidenbach Wednesday, March 21, 2012 12:33 PM ARCHIVED PROFILES FRED BREIDENBACH West Chester - Exercise Science Major Wilmington, Del. / Salesianum School Breidenbach is a sophomore right-handed pitcher for the Golden Rams baseball team. Coming off a medical redshirt, he has enjoyed a great deal of early success in 2012, posting a 3-0 record with a 1.50 ERA in three starts. In 2010 he was named the PSAC East Freshman of the Year as he led the the league in wins with an 11-2 record while throwing a PSAC-high 80.1 innings. While setting the school record for wins in a season, Breidenbach also registered a team-high 62 strikeouts (7th PSAC) and was the only freshman to earn a spot on the PSAC Eastern Division First Team. Why did you choose West Chester? It was the best balance of athletics, location, and academic major for me. What are your career plans? To be a physical therapist. What is the biggest adjustment you had to make going from high school to college? Learning to accept and develop from failure. What is the best advice you’ve ever been given? Be brief, be bright, be gone. What is the thing you’ve enjoyed most about college? The ability to become an adult and learn through life lessons. What is your top collegiate athletics memory? Setting the school record for wins in a season. What do you consider your most memorable athletic accomplishment throughout your life? Winning a state baseball championship in high school. Among athletes in the family, where do you rate? Second. My dad was a two-time All-American and is in two halls of fame for his accomplishments in the hammer throw. If I could go pro in any sport it would be: baseball. If I could change one thing about the sport I play, it would be: Make hitters use wood bats. Who is your favorite athlete and why? Peyton Manning demonstrates what hard work can do. What person has had the most significant influence on you from an athletics perspective? My father. What is your favorite pro sports team? The Philadelphia Phillies. My hidden talent is: DEVELOPING ODD SAYINGS. Stuck on a deserted island, what three things would you bring: Fly fishing rod, a baseball and Fig Newtons. Fill in the blanks: When you’re in my hometown, you should try the milkshake at Charcoal Pit. I would be a lot more effective if I would spend less time: watching Sportscenter repeats.
