Mercyhurst Bows Out of NCAA Title Run
MERCYHURST BOWS OUT OF NCAA TITLE RUN
Evan, Ga. - The Mercyhurst men's soccer team was unable to defeat Lynn University in the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship semifinal round in Evans, Ga. to drop out of the national title race with a 4-1 loss.
The Lakers allowed Lynn's first goal just 36 seconds into the match, and gave up another Lynn mark in the 32nd minute to send the game into halftime with a 2-0 score.
Lynn would score two more goals before Mercyhurst's Ryan Lund, assisted by Dane Rimko, notched his fourth goal of the season with a header off a free kick in the 82nd minute.
The Lakers cap their season with a 17-6-1 overall record. The Final Four appearance for Mercyhurst was the squad's first since the 2002 season when it was bounced from the tournament with a 2-1 decision to Southern New Hampshire, the same team Mercyhurst beat in the quarterfinals this season to advance to the semis.

MERCYHURST GETS PAST SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE IN QUARTERFINALS
Manchester, N.H. - The Mercyhurst men's soccer team clinched a 2-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire and will advanced to the 2012 NCAA Division II Championship Semifinals.
The Lakers' Austin Solomon got Mercyhurst on the board with a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute, and Alex Manea struck for the Lakers in the 61st minute for the game winner. It was Solomon's eighth season goal and Manea's 16th.
Mercyhurst will now face Lynn at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Georgia in the semifinal round on Thursday, November 29. The national championship match is scheduled for December 1.

MERCYHURST DEFEATS GANNON, ADVANCES TO QUARTERFINALS
Manchester, N.H. - The Mercyhurst men's soccer squad earned a 2-1 win over Gannon at Southern New Hampshire in order to advance to the 2012 NCAA Division II Championship Quarterfinals.
Alex Manea netted the Lakers' first goal of the night in the 34th minute, his 15th mark of the season, followed by an Austin Soloman game winning goal in the 80th minute. Gannon was able to cut the two-goal lead in half in the 83rd minute with a Alex Perri mark.
Mercyhurst, the Atlantic Regional champ, will play the winner between UMass.-Lowell and Southern N.H. of the East Regoin on Sunday, November 18, in Manchester, N.H. at 1:00 p.m.

2-1 WIN SENDS GANNON TO THIRD ROUND OF NCAAS
Erie, Pa. - Gannon defeated Davis & Elkins 2-1 in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship tournament on Sunday in order to advance to the third round.
Gannon will square-off against Mercyhurst, who defeated Charleston (W. Va.) on Saturday, on Friday, November 16, at Laken Field in Manchester N.H. The game's time is yet to be determined.
The winner will face the winner between UMass.-Lowell and Southern N.H. in the quarterfinal round.

MERCYHURST ADVANCES TO THIRD ROUND OF NCAAS
Charleston, W.Va. - Sam Dorf's goal in the 82nd minute lifted Mercyhurst over Charleston (W. Va.) 1-0 on Saturday night in Charleston to advance to the third round of the 2012 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship Tournament.
Mercyhurst (15-5-1) will face the winner between Gannon and Davis & Elkins. The two schools will play their second round match on Sunday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Gannon.
The third round match featuring the Lakers will be played on either November 15 or 16.

NCAA SELECTION ANNOUNCEMENT
Lock Haven, Pa. - PSAC's Gannon and Mercyhurst have been selected to compete in the 2012 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship tournament as members of the Atlantic Region.
Gannon (12-5-0) earned the top seed in the Atlantic and will face Davis & Elkins in the second round of championship matches on Sunday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Gannon.
Mercyhurst (14-5-1) took the third seed in the region and will travel to No. 2 Charleston (WV) on November 11, for a second round match at 1:00 pm.
The highest remaining seed from the East and Atlantic Regions will host the third and quarterfinal rounds for the two regions on either November 15 or 16.
The semifinal and championship matches are slated to be played on November 29-December 1, at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga., hosted by the Peach Belt Conference.
The entire Championship field is made-up of 35 teams across all eight men's soccer regions.
