Lowell, Mass. - West Chester clinched a 5-0 victory against UMass-Lowell in the 2012 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Championship match in order to earn its second straight national crown.
The Golden Rams allowed just one shot and was dominate in the match against a UMass-Lowell squad that West Chester defeated a year ago for the national title.
The 5-0 win marks the largest score margin since 2002, when Bloomsburg defeated Bentley 5-0 for the national championship.

NOTES: West Chester’s back-to-back NCAA championships marks the first such accomplishment for the school in any sport … it is the sixth NCAA national championship won by West Chester University (1961 – men’s soccer; 2002 and 2008 – women’s lacrosse; 2011 field hockey; 2012 baseball) … it is the sixth national championship overall in program history … WCU won four straight AIAW field hockey national championships (1975, 1976, 1977, 1978) … West Chester improves to 6-0 in the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament … the Golden Rams have now won the national title in each of its first two years since re-classifying to Division II … WCU’s 20 wins ties the school record for wins in a single season (1977, 1978) … in two seasons as head coach, Amy Cohen is 37-6 with a pair of national championships and one conference championship … West Chester ended the 2012 season on a 10-game winning streak.
WEST CHESTER DOWNS SHIP 3-2 TO ADVANCE TO NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Lowell, Mass. - West Chester notched its game winning mark with just over one minute left in regulation to give the Golden Rams a 3-2 victory over Shippensburg in order to advance to the 2012 NCAA Field Hockey Championship match.
The game winner was scored by Kayla Gluchowski, her 12th mark of her senior campagin.
The title game will be played on Sunday, November 11, at Cushing Field in Lowell, Mass. at 1:00 p.m. against the semifinal winner between Merrimack and Mass.-Lowell.

WEST CHESTER TO FACE SHIPPENSBURG IN NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP SEMIFINALS
West Chester, Pa. - With a 5-2 quarterfinal victory over IUP, West Chester field hockey advances into the NCAA Championship semifinals.
The Golden Rams will play Shippensburg, the first seed in the South Region, on Friday, November 9, at
Cushing Athletic Complex in Lowell, Mass.
West Chester, defending NCAA champions, scored first in the eighth minute by Michele Schrift followed by two Kelsey Cheek in the first half. IUP's Kate Bruce scored both Crimson Hawks goals. Kelsi Lykens found the back of the cage twice for the Golden Rams in the second 35 minutes of play.

NCAA FIELD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
Lock Haven, Pa. - Three PSAC teams have been selected to participate in the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament as the entire six-team field was announced Tuesday. PSAC tournament champion and defending national champion West Chester, PSAC West champion Shippensburg, as well as IUP will represent the PSAC in the NCAA Tournament.
Shippensburg will receive a first-round bye directly into the national semifinals and is ranked first in the South Region. IUP, the third seed in the region, heads to West Chester for the quarterfinal round on Saturday, November 3, for a 1:00 p.m. contest. The winner will go against Shippensburg in the semifinals on Friday, November 9, at Cushing Athletic Complex in Lowell, Mass. The Championship match will also be held at Cushing Athletic Complex on Sunday, November 11.
In the North Region, UMass-Lowell earned the top seed, with Merrimack receiving the second seed and will face third-seeded Bentley in the first round.
