Millersville's Maria Thompson named winner of PSAC Champion Scholar Award
West Chester, Pa. - Millersville senior
Maria Thompson has been named the winner of the PSAC Champion Scholar Award for field hockey.
The PSAC Champion Scholar Award, begun during the 2011-12 academic year, is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 89 award and honors the student-athlete with the top grade point average that is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship final sites of the 89 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III.
Thompson, the first Millersville student-athlete to be named a Champion Scholar, is a senior majoring in elementary eduction. She currently boasts a flawless 4.0 grade point average while having accumulated 91 credit hours thus far in her career. The
three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and member of the NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad is a native of Millersville and graduated from Lancaster Christian.
