Kutztown, Pa. - Megan McCormick homered twice and went 4-for-4 with five RBI while tournament MVP Erin Holloway allowed just two runs while scattering seven hits, walking two and striking out eight in a complete game performance to pick up the win in the circle as IUP defeated West Chester 7-2 to win the first PSAC softball championship in program history.

The Crimson Hawks, who along with West Chester were No. 3 seeds in the first round of the tournament last weekend, did not lose a game in the PSAC Tournament, going 6-0 to improve to 33-6 on the season. Holloway struck out 30 in the three games of the championship series and for the tournament, had a 0.51 ERA while limiting opponents to just .119 batting average. McCormick hit .476 (10-for-21) in the tournament with three doubles, three homers and 11 RBI.

McCormick's first homer came in the first inning, a two-run shot to put IUP up 2-0. After West Chester cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the first, the Crimson Hawks put up single runs in the second and third to take a 4-1 lead, with their run in the third coming on an RBI single by McCormick. IUP extended its lead to 6-1 with two in the fourth, one coming on an RBI single by Marissa Leslie and one on McCormick's RBI double. McCormick made it a 7-1 advantage with a solo home run in the sixth. West Chester tacked on one in the bottom of the sixth to account for the final score.
