Edinboro Wrestlers Claim Six Individual Titles as Fighting Scots Regain PSAC Title

Erie, Pa. - Edinboro wrestlers won six of the 10 individual titles to vault the Fighting Scots to the team title at the 69th PSAC Wrestling Championships. The title is the sixth in the last seven seasons for the Scots, who had their streak of five straight tities snapped last year. Edinboro has now also won nine of the last 11 and 12 of the last 15 PSAC championships and the championship is the 13th all-time in program history - the fourth-most in PSAC history.
Bloomsburg finished second, just 13.5 points behind Edinboro with 150 points to the Fighting Scots' 163.5. It marked the sixth straight season that the Huskies were the runner-up and the 13.5-point margin between them and the champion is the second-smallest in their current six-year runner-up streak. Bloomsburg had two individual champions. Clarion, the 2010 champion, finished third with 124 points while Lock Haven placed fourth. The Golden Eagles and Bald Eagles each had a single individual champion.
Frank Hickman of Bloomsburg was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the championship after winning his first PSAC title at 157 pounds. It was his second overall PSAC title after he also won the 2009 title at 141. Hickman won his first match by fall over Ryan Martini of Mercyhurst, recorded a technical fall over Shippensburg's Kenny Stank (26-11), and then knocked off the defending champion at 157 in Clarion's James Fleming by decision, 6-1.
