California Wins Fourth PSAC Volleyball Championship in Last Five Years

Lock Haven, Pa. - California won all three of its sets by three or fewer points as the Vulcan overcame 28 kills by Lock Haven's Gao Xuan to top Lock Haven 3-1 (26-24, 25-22, 19-25, 25-22) and capture the 2011 PSAC volleyball championship. The title is the fourth in the last five years for the Vulcans and the seventh overall for the program. The seven all-time titles for the Vulcans breaks a tie with Lock Haven and moves Cal into second place alone for the most in PSAC history behind only Edinboro's nine.

Tournament MVP Brandy Harris led the way for the Vulcans with 19 kills and 17 digs while hitting .381. Meghan Franz tallied 12 kills while hitting .310 while Molly Delaney had 14 digs and Sara McMullen had 10 digs.

Gao had 28 kills and hit .383 for the Lady Eagles but aside from Haley Gribler's nine kills, no other Eagle had more than four kills. Five Lock Haven players tallied double-digit digs led by Erin Walsh's 21. Gao had 17, Gribler had 14, Alexa Garrity added 11 in addition to her 45 assists while Bethany Burns contributed 10.  Lock Haven outhit Cal .241-.230 and also had more kills (52) than Cal (51).
