California's Lahmers, East Stroudsburg's Lower Named XC Champion Scholars

Lock Haven, Pa. - California senior Tim Lahmers and East Stroudsburg senior Lisa Lower have been named the recipients of the PSAC Champion Scholar Award for the men's and women's cross country championships.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 88 award and honors the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 88 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 88 NCAA championships across all three divisions - I, II and III. Lahmers and Lower are the inaugural recipients of the awards for cross country. The overall inaugural Champion Scholar Awards were given out last weekend at the men's and women's golf championships.

Lahmers is a senior majoring in earth science. He currently has a 4.0 grade point average while having accumulated 118 credit hours. A native of Delmont, Pa., he is a graduate of Franklin Regional High School.

Lower is also a senior and is majoring in speech pathology. She also currently has a 4.0 grade point average and has completed 94 credit hours. She is a native of Palmerton, Pa. and a graduate of Palmerton High School.

With Lahmers and Lower each having 4.0 GPAs, all four of the recipients of Champion Scholar Awards so far this year has sported perfect 4.0 GPAs.
