For the second straight year, two PSAC teams will battle in the NCAA Atlantic Super Regional for the regional title and a trip to the NCAA Division II Softball World Series. Bloomsburg will host California in a best-of-three series beginning this Friday and concluding this Saturday at Bloomsburg's Jan Hutchinson Field.

This is the second year that the Division II softball tournament had its regionals broken down into four sub-regionals followed by a best-of-three Super Regional series the following weekend. Prior to last year, there had been just one eight-team regional. Last year, in the first year under the current format, eventual national champion Lock Haven defeated Kutztown in two games to advance to the World Series.

This year, another PSAC Central team, Bloomsburg (47-6) will host the series against California (37-12). The Huskies and Vulcans also met in the PSAC championship game three weekends ago and Bloomsburg defeated the Vulcans twice, 3-2 and 7-5 to win the PSAC championship.

This year's Division II Softball World Series will be held in St. Joseph, Mo. at Heritage Park. The event begins next Thursday, May 27 and runs through Memorial Day on Monday, May 31.
