Lock Haven, Pa. - Shippensburg’s Gayle Kuntzmann and Lock Haven’s Kayleigh Johnson are this week’s PSAC lacrosse East and West Players of the Week, respectively. The duo led their teams to a combined 4-1 record while putting up some impressive numbers that stick out.

PSAC East Player of the Week
Gayle Kuntzmann, Shippensburg

Kuntzmann did a little bit of everything last weekend for Shippensburg as the Lady Raiders went 2-1 on the week. On the offensive end, Kuntzmann led Shippensburg by scoring 10 goals, including a game-winner, on just 10 shots as she scored on every shot she took. On the defensive end, she caused nine turnovers and also added a total of 14 ground balls and seven draw controls. She played sparingly in a 22-2 win over Shepherd, compiling four groundballs and causing three turnovers in the win as Shippensburg rested many of its regulars for most of the game. She then helped the Lady Raiders to a 13-11 win over Bloomsburg, scoring a career-high six goals, including the game-winner, and adding five draw controls, two groundballs and one caused turnover. She helped the Raiders come back from a three-goal deficit by scoring five of her six goals in the last 12:46 of the contest. Kuntzmann wrapped up the week with four goals, a season-high eight groundballs and five caused turnovers in a 17-12 loss to East Stroudsburg.

PSAC West Player of the Week
Kayleigh Johnson, Lock Haven

Johnson played an instrumental role in leading Lock Haven to a 2-0 week, including a big win over second place Mercyhurst to lift the Lady Eagles into first place alone in the PSAC West. Johnson scored a combined seven goals and dished out eight assists and also scooped up three ground balls in wins over the Lakers and Slippery Rock. She started off the week by scoring two goals and dishing out eight of Lock Haven’s 18 assists in a 23-3 win over The Rock. The eight assists were a new career high in a single game for her. She then netted a game-high five goals in a 13-9 win over Mercyhurst.
