California's Anastassiya Zherdeva and Bloomsburg’s Laura Sullivan both had impressive weeks on their way to earning accolades as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in Women’s Tennis.
Western Division
Anastassiya Zherdeva- California (Pa.)
Sophomore

Zherdeva posted a combined 7-1 record last week to help lead the Vulcans to a 4-0 mark with three wins over regionally-ranked teams and two victories over PSAC West programs, IUP and Shippensburg. She finished with a 3-1 mark in singles play after splitting time at the first and second positions while also collecting a 4-0 record with teammate Jade Pondicas at number three doubles. Zherdeva opened the week with a 6-0, 6-0 win on Wednesday over IUP’s Katie Eaton, the 14th-ranked singles player in the region. She then posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at number one singles against Charleston’s Neha Rana, the eighth-ranked player in the Atlantic Region. In doubles play Zherdeva and Pondicas lost only a total of six games in four match victories. On the season Zherdva is 18-8 in singles play and 15-7 on the season in doubles.

Bloomsburg junior Laura Sullivan went 4-1 on the week, going 3-0 in singles and 1-1 in doubles. Sullivan started the week with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number two singles against Wilkes, and winning 8-4 at number two doubles. Against Cheyney Sullivan played at number one singles and posted a 6-0, 6-0 win, She then finished the week with a 6-2, 6-2 win at number two singles against ESU, while dropping her only match of the week against East Stroudsburg’s Amanda Kaufman and Marissa Tanner by a score of 8-6. Sullivan's effort this past week improves her record to 10-3 in singles and a 6-6 record in doubles this season..
