PSAC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week - 6

A pair of Slippery Rock track and field athletes have been named this week's PSAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week as both Kevin Jewel and Chris Warning, respectively, turned in impressive performances this past week.

Slippery Rock’s freshman track standout Kevin Jewel put forth a dominating effort this past Saturday at the Ashland Alumni Invitational. While participating in the 800 meter run, Jewel posted a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 1:52.00 as he went on to win the event. His time is the best in the PSAC by over a full second, ahead of teammate Phil Rector at 1:53.02. At this point late in the season Jewel is the only PSAC runner to reach a qualifying time in the 800 and ranks 12th in the nation among Division II.



Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

Chris Warning- Slippery Rock

Slippery Rock’s senior field athlete Chris Warning continued to increase his dominance over the PSAC in the discus this past week at the Ashland Alumni Invitational. Warning placed fourth in the event with a season-best throw of 167’-11”. The throw is the best in the PSAC by nearly ten feet with the second best coming in at 158’0”. Warning is the only PSAC thrower to reach a qualifying mark in the discus and he ranks 15th in the nation.
