Brownsville, Pa. - Shippensburg runners claimed five of the top nine places in the individual standings, which gave the Lady Raiders their third straight PSAC women's cross country title, as they ran away with the championship, winning by 79 points over second place Edinboro.
The Lady Raiders compiled just 25 points as all five of their runners that counted toward the team total finished in the top 10. Nine of their runners finished in the top 20, garnering all-conference honors. The Fighting Scots placed second with 104 points, while Slippery Rock finished third with 115 points.
Shippensburg junior Neely Spence won the individual title for the third straight season, easily outpacing the rest of the field by over a minute. She won in a time of 20:52, while Elicia Anderson of Millersville, who placed second, finished in 22:02. Spence's teammate Mary Dell, a redshirt senior, placed third in 22:14. Slippery Rock's Jen Harpp came in fourth, followed by Shippensburg's Abby Huber and Edinboro's Tini Ti in fifth and sixth. Lock Haven's Lindsey Lambert took eighth while the Lady Raiders' Katie Spratford came in ninth.
The title is Shippensburg's fifth all-time, which ranks third in PSAC history behind Edinboro and IUP.
