Shippensburg - 2010 PSAC Men's Soccer Champions

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with East Stroudsburg on a frigid Saturday evening from David See Field but won its first PSAC championship since 1975 by achieving a 3-2 edge in a penalty-kick shootout.
Sophomore goalkeeper Clay Sale made eight saves in the match and stopped two shots with diving efforts during the penalty kick shootout. He was named the championship game MVP.
Shippensburg (15-5) trailed 1-0 in the second half but rallied in the 59th minute with a goal by sophomore defender Austin Hill.
The Raiders must wait to see if they will be ranked as one of the top four teams in the regional rankings. SU entered the week as the No. 6 team in the Atlantic Region but remained unbeaten for their 12th consecutive match with Saturday night’s victory.
The official selections for the NCAA tournament will be announced in a live videocast at www.NCAASports.com Monday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Shippensburg has never competed for the NCAA tournament.
