Two individuals from IUP shot the two best individual rounds of the tournament on Sunday and in a tournament in which there were only three individual rounds shot under par, two Crimson Hawks were responsible for two of them, which was the difference as IUP won its fourth straight PSAC men's golf championship.
IUP's Sean Sweithelm shot a second round of three-under 69, the only round under 70 of the tournament, to capture the individual title by one stroke over Griffith Basehore of West Chester. For the tournament, Sweithelm shot a one-over 145. Only four strokes separated first through fourth places as IUP's Zack Kempa, who was the first round leader along with Basehore, finished in third place at three-over 147. Gannon's Drew Deimel and Clarion's Zach Schloemer, who shot the second best round of the tournament with a second round one-under 71, finished tied for fourth. Mercyhurst's Garrett Kimple finished at six-over 150 in sixth place, while IUP's Brad Boyle, Derek Baker and California's Paul Babashanian finished in a three-way tie for seventh at seven-over 151. Millersville's Shane Henry and Clarion's Ross Pringle tied for 10th place at eight-over 152. IUP's Boyle shot the only other sub-par round of the tournament, carding a second round of two-under 70 but his first round 81 left him too far off the pace to challenge for the individual medal.
As a team, the Crimson Hawks carded a second round of one-over 289 to finish with a two-round score of 16-over 592, the only team to break 600. They won by 20 strokes over second place West Chester, which finished at 36-over 612. Clarion finished just one shot back of West Chester in third place. Millersville shot a second round score of eight-over 296, the second-best team score of the tournament, to finish in fourth place, 11 shots behind Clarion. Mercyhurst, California and Gannon rounded out the team standings.
