Lock Haven, Pa. - West Chester’s Sarah Oswald and Gannon’s Amanda Sharbaugh have been named the PSAC Women’s Soccer Athletes of the Week after each led their respective teams to 2-0 records on the week. Oswald is the first West Chester player to be honored as the East Player of the Week this year while Sharbaugh is Gannon’s first player to be named the West Player of the Week this year.

Oswald notched a goal and an assist to help West Chester to a pair of wins over two teams ranked in the top five in the Atlantic Region, leading to a 2-0 week for the Golden Rams. She scored the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Kutztown, which entered the game ranked ninth nationally. Oswald also recorded an assists in a 2-0 win over East Stroudsburg, who entered the game ranked fourth in the region. The two wins for the Golden Rams propelled them to first place in the PSAC East. Both of Oswald’s goals this year have been game-winners.
PSAC West Player of the Week

Sharbaugh, last year’s PSAC West Freshman of the Year, scored two goals and recorded an assist to help Gannon to a 2-0 week with wins over Clarion and Slippery Rock. The sophomore scored twice in a 4-1 win over Clarion, giving the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead just 2:31 into the match and then giving the Knights a two-goal lead at 3-1 in the 81st minute. In the 2-1 win over Slippery Rock, Sharbaugh assisted on Kara Prokopchak’s game-winning goal in the 62nd minute, breaking a 1-1 tie that had existed for over 40 minutes of playing time. Sharbaugh leads Gannon in both goals and points through seven games and already ranks fourth all-time in school history in career goals and seventh in career points despite only being a sophomore.
