Shippensburg Edges out East Stroudsburg for PSAC Men's Outdoor Championship

Millersville, Pa. - After holding a large lead heading into the final day of the 2009 PSAC championships, Shippensburg held off a late charge by East Stroudsburg to capture the men's championship on Saturday.

The Red Raiders won the team title despite only getting two first place finishes in the meet, where were Don Graybill's first place finish in the decathlon and Andrew Batula in the high jump.

Spurred on the outstanding athlete and track athlete of the meet, Andrew McCloskey, East Stroudsburg made a late run at the championship, only to fall short as Shippensburg piled up points by getting several second and third place finishes. McCloskey won both the 100 and 200 meters. The Warriors also got first place finishes from its 4x100 relay team, and by Paul Wagner in the hammer throw, Rusty Smith in the 110 hurdles and Matthew Gallup in the pole vault.

Mike Gray of Mansfield was named the field athlete of the meet after winning the discuss throw and the shot put.
