Lock Haven, Pa. - The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) is pleased to announce its Winter 2008-09 Top 10 Award recipients today. The PSAC Top 10 Awards, which are selected by the PSAC’s sports information directors, recognize student-athletes who excel in both the classroom and in the area of competition. The PSAC Top 10 Awards are in their 12th season of existence, having been initiated in the 1997-98 academic year.
The Top 10 Awards recognize 10 outstanding student-athletes, five male and five female, for each athletic season: fall, winter and spring. The Winter 2008-09 Top 10 Award winners are Chris Bach of East Stroudsburg, Pawel Glowiak of IUP, Kyle Goldcamp of Gannon, Jarrod King of Edinboro and Ben McConnell of Lock Haven on the men’s side, Lauren Beckley and Mary Dell of Shippensburg, Jennifer Harpp of Slippery Rock, Erin Richard of Clarion and Jackie Yandrisevits of East Stroudsburg on the women’s side. Bach, Beckley and Glowiak are repeat winners of the Winter Top 10 Award, with all three having been Top 10 award winners last year as well.
To be a candidate for the PSAC Top 10 Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials for their respective team. The winter sports eligible for consideration for the Winter Top 10 Awards are men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s indoor track & field and wrestling. At the end of the academic year, all Top 10 Award winners from the entire academic year are eligible for the PSAC Pete Nevins Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards, given to one male and one female candidate at the end of the academic year.

Beckley was the PSAC Eastern Division Player of the Year, becoming the first player to earn the honor in both divisions, after leading the conference with 11.4 boards per game while finishing second in the PSAC with 21.5 points per game ... She was also second among PSAC players in three-pointers (64), three-point field goal percentage (45.1) and free-throw percentage (86.4 percent) ... She is one of just four All-Americans who repeated on this year's Daktronics All-America team, earning second team honors for her performance this year ... Beckley's total of 581 points this season ranks ninth in school history. She remains the school's active career leader in free-throw percentage (83.3) and three-point field-goal percentage (44.2). Beckley has compiled 849 rebounds, which ranks fourth in school history ... Through three seasons with Shippensburg, Beckley has compiled 1,753 points, which ranks her fifth among career leaders at the university ... She will enter her senior season in 2009-10 needing just 304 points to surpass the all-time career scoring mark held by Stacey Cunningham-Dellinger '84 and 536 points to become the all-time leading scorer in the PSAC ... Recognized by CoSIDA as a 2008-09 First Team Academic All-American for the College Division of District 2 ... Was the only member of the PSAC to be named to the first-team squad in the district and one of just three Division II first-team selections ... 2008 Winter Top 10 Award Winner ... Just the third Lady Raider to be named as a Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) First Team All-American in 2008 ... Selected to the 2008 Daktronics All-America First Team ... Finished sophomore season with 624 points, the third-highest single-season total in school history ... Totaled 310 rebounds as a sophomore, becoming just the second player to total 300 in a single-season for SU ... Became first woman in PSAC history to score 1,000 career points as a sophomore ... Set a new school record as a sophomore with 47 points in a game at Lock Haven ... Shot 43.3 percent from three-point range as a sophomore to set a new school, single-season record which also led the PSAC ... In 2007, Beckley was one of 356 student-athletes, selected from 1,308 applicants, to attend the NCAA National Leadership Conference.

Junior Mary Dell earned an individual conference championship in the 800-meters with a time of 2:12.84 and was also an anchor on the championship DMR squad at the conference meet ... Shippensburg finished second overall at the meet, but perhaps her greatest accomplishment came in the form of a Division II National Championship ... Dell joined a relay squad that obliterated the national championship meet record with a time of 11:24.54, a time that before conversion from a flat track to a banked track, is already more than five seconds faster than the previous record time of 11:29.89 set on a banked track in 2007 by Grand Valley State. Shippensburg won the event by more than 18 full seconds over Grand Valley State and became the first program in conference history to win a national championship in a relay. Dell's contribution came with a phenomenal opening leg that put Shippensburg in the lead after the 1,200-meter portion of the event by nearly one full second with a split time of 3:30 ... The Lady Raider indoor track and field program finished the year ranked No. 8 in Division II and atop the Atlantic Region power rankings ... Entering the 2008-09 track season, Dell has contributed to four individual school records and four school relay records. She has been a part of an outdoor 1,600-meter relay squad and an indoor DMR squad that each were the first in conference history to earn All-American status ... Academically, she has been named to the 2007 and 2008 U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Women's Division II All-Academic Track and Field Team ... In cross country, Dell was named to the 2008 USTFCCCA All-Academic Squad and was a part of a Shippensburg squad that was a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team ... She is currently a member of the Honors College and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on campus ... Earned a spot on the All-America team for the fourth straight year by finishing seventh in the 100 backstroke in 49.37. Earlier in the day he swam a 49.34 to break his own school record ... Glowiak won the PSAC title in the 100 back for the third straight year and also scored in the 200 back with a third place finish and the 200 IM by finishing 10th ... He was a member of relay teams that finished third in the 400 medley, fourth in the 200 medley and 400 free and fifth in the 800 free ... Glowiak earned the PSAC Top 10 award as a junior in 2008 and has been on the Dean's List in six of seven semesters ... He is a four-time All-American including three in the 100 backstroke, finishing fifth in 2006, eighth in 2007 and seventh in 2009 ... He was also sixth in the 100 butterfly in 2008 ... He earned honorable mention All-America status with 15th place finishes in the 200 backstroke (2006, 2007, 2008) and the 200 individual medley (2007) ... Glowiak is a four-time PSAC champion with first place finishes in the 100 back the past three years and the 200 back in 2008 ... He placed in the top three in a total of 11 events during his career ... He holds the school record in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly and is a member of record holding teams in the 200 and 400 medley relays.

Did not qualify to be listed among the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) or national statistical leaders because he did not played in 66 percent of Gannon's regular-season games due to an injury. If he did, Goldcamp would have ranked fourth among PSAC players in field goal percentage, fourth in blocked shots per game, fifth in scoring, and fifth in rebounding … Ranks fourth all-time at Gannon in blocked shots (111) and 43rd in scoring (834) despite playing only two seasons in a Golden Knight uniform … Reached double digits in scoring during 24 consecutive games dating back to the 2007-08 season … Recorded 13 double-doubles during his two seasons at Gannon ... Harpp earned All-America honors with a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA National Championships. Her time of 16:33.38 shattered the Slippery Rock school record and was the top performance in the PSAC and second best in the nation this season … She also shattered the SRU record in the 3,000-meter run during the year, a record that had stood longer than any women's track and field record at Slippery Rock. At the PSAC Championships, she was an integral part of both the 4x800-meter and distance medley relay teams, both which set Slippery Rock records and helped propel the team to its third-straight PSAC title. She was named PSAC Athlete of the Week twice during the 2008-09 indoor season. All together, she finished the season with four school records and scored more points than any other individual athlete in the PSAC at the national championships ... Harpp has carried her success from the indoor season into the outdoor campaign, opening the year with the second-fastest 10,000-meter time in the nation and shattering the Slippery Rock record in the event by more than 30 seconds. She carries a 3.913 cumulative GPA in exercise science and has been an All-Academic selection by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association in every sport (cross country, indoor and outdoor track) during each of her semesters at Slippery Rock.

Won Division I National Championship at 165 lbs., becoming Edinboro's fourth Division I national champion … Entered nationals seeded 12th, and proceeded to upset three higher seeds on way to title … Won championship with 3-2 win over Wisconsin's Andrew Howe, who was seeded second … He defeated fourth-seeded Moza Fay of Northern Iowa, 12-5, in the quarterfinals, and defeated eighth-seeded Jonathan Reader of Iowa State in the semifinals. He won that match by riding time after two tiebreakers … Finished the year with a 32-5 record with 10 falls … Was named the EWL Wrestler of the Year and PSAC Athlete of the Year … Started the year with 12 straight wins before losing 4-1 to sixth-ranked Colt Sponseller of Ohio State … Would miss a month of the season due to a staph infection in his knee, and when he returned in mid-February he lost two of his first four matches back … Rallied to win the EWL championship with a fall over West Virginia's Donnie Jones in 23 seconds … Also placed first in the Oklahoma Gold Classic, PSAC Championships, and Reno Tournament, and was second at the Southern Scuffle ...
