Lock Haven, Pa. - After having lost to West Chester in the championship game of the PSAC tournament in each of the last three years, Lock Haven got the better of the Golden Rams on Saturday and with a 13-10 win, claimed their first PSAC championship since 1981 and ended West Chester's five-year run as PSAC tournament champions. The Eagles will now await the NCAA Tournament selection process.
Amber Hoch scored five goals while tournament MVP Leigh Titus had a goal and five assists to lead the Lady Eagles, who dominated the game from the beginning. They came out in the first half with three straight goals in the first three minutes of the game to take a 3-0 lead. It was a 6-1 game after Kayleigh Johnson scored two straight goals, the last coming at the 18:56 mark and it became an 8-2 game after Kate Smyth's goal at the 11:03 mark in the first half.
West Chester would cut it to a 9-5 LHU lead at halftime. The Golden Rams did outscore Lock Haven 5-4 in the second half, but three of those goals came with under six minutes to play after Lock Haven had stretched the lead to 13-7. Chrissy Stokes scored three goals and had an assist while Jackie Baker had four goals to lead West Chester.
Heather Sacko made 12 saves for Lock Haven while Mary Beth Green made 10 for West Chester.
