Edinboro Places Sixth, Has Three All-Americans to Lead PSAC Contingent at D1 Wrestling Championships

King wins national championship at 165

St. Louis, Mo. - Edinboro earned a sixth place finish at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships as one Fighting Scot claimed a national championship and two others wrestled their way to All-American standing as the Scots led the PSAC contingent at the championships at St. Louis's Scott Trade Center this weekend.

Jarrod King won the 165-pound division as he decisioned Andrew Howe of Wisconsin to take the individual national championship as the No. 12 seed. He knocked off three higher seeds to win the championship.

Also earning All-American status for the Fighting Scots was Paul Donahoe in the 125-pound division and Gregor Gillespie at 157 pounds. Donahoe placed second, falling to Troy Nickerson of Cornell in the championship bout, 2-1, while Gillespie finished fourth, falling to Jordan Leen of Cornell in the third-place bout, 4-0.

Matt Moley of Bloomsburg also earned All-American status as he finished sixth at 157, falling to Missouri's Michael Chandler in the fifth-place bout.

Edinboro picked up 68 points to finish in sixth place, the top team both from the PSAC and from Pennsylvania. Bloomsburg finished 37th with 15 points while Lock Haven finished in a tie for 55th place with 2.5 points and East Stroudsburg finished in a tie for 58th with 2.0 points.
