PSAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week

Lock Haven, Pa: Veteran Brittany Slauterbeck and rookie Gao Xuan had outstanding performances on the court and are this week’s PSAC Athletes of the Week. Slauterbeck led the Fighting Scots to a 2-1 week and helped her team clinch a PSAC playoff spot. Xuan picked up her fifth PSAC Athlete of the Week honor after helping the Lady Eagles to a 2-0 week and extended their win steak to 21 matches. 

Western Division
Brittany Slauterbeck-Edinboro
Senior/Middle Hitter
Port Clinton, OH/Oak Harbor

Edinboro’s Brittany Slauterbeck had a solid week as the Fighting Scots went 2-1 and clinched a spot in the PSAC playoffs. She finished the week with 30 kills, a .520 attack percentage, two service aces, three digs and four blocks. In the straight set victory over Lake Erie College the senior chipped in from all angels. She collected eight kills, one dig, one service ace, one block and hit .700. During Friday’s win against Mercyhurst, she recorded another nine kills, a .533 hitting percentage, one service ace and two blocks. To finish the weekend in a five set win against Gannon, she totaled 13 kills, hitting .440 and added two digs and one block.

Xuan Gao-Lock Haven
Freshman/Outside Hitter
Dong Ying, China/Zibo

Lock Haven’s Xuan Gao had an all-around tremendous week to lead the Lady Eagles to a 2-0 perfect week. Over the course of the two matches, Xuan totaled a team-high 25 kills, while hitting .478. She added to her solid performance with 15 digs, eight assists, four blocks and three aces. Against Millersville, she hit .562 with 10 kills and knocked down another 15 kills in the win over Shippensburg. Lock Haven extended its win streak to 21 matches as they wrapped up their regular season play and await the PSAC playoffs.
