PSAC Announces Softball Tournament Seeding
(April 27, 2008)

Lock Haven University will host the 2008 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Softball Championship on Thursday, May 1 through Saturday, May 3.  The top three teams in the Eastern and Westerns Divisions will battle in a double-elimination tournament that grants the champion automatic entry into the NCAA tournament.

Daily tickets for the tournament are $7 for adults, $2 for students.  Students currently enrolled at PSAC member institutions will be admitted free with a valid student ID.

Lock Haven earned the right to host the tournament after clinching the Western Division's No. 1 seed, finishing the regular season with a 40-6 overall record, 19-1 PSAC West.

Kutztown joins the Lady Eagles as the other No. 1 seed.  The Golden Bears clinched their second consecutive Eastern Division title with a record-breaking 44-10 mark, eclipsing last year's win total by one game.

California and Bloomsburg each claimed the No.2 seed in the Western and Eastern Divisions, respectively.  California finished with a 26-14 overall record, 12-8 in the West and finished the season winning 14 of its last 22 contests.

Bloomsburg posted a 44-7 overall mark, 19-5 in the East by starting off the season winning 26 of its first 28 games, including an 18-game winning streak.

IUP wrapped up the 2008 campaign with a 16-24 overall record, 12-8 PSAC West.  The Crimson Hawks are making their fourth straight league tournament appearance and last appeared in the PSAC championship game in 2001 where they fell to Bloomsburg, 2-1, in eight innings.

East Stroudsburg will make its second consecutive appearance in the league championship after securing the Eastern Division's third seed.
ESU owns a 17-28 overall mark and finished 11-13 in the PSAC East.  The Warriors went 1-2 in the PSAC tournament last year in its first appearance since 1981. The Warriors won the only PSAC softball championship in school history in 1980.
