Two wrestlers from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference finished in the
top eight in the nation to earn All-America honors. Edinboro's Gregor Gillespie
finished fifth at 157
pounds and Bloomsburg's Matt Moley earned an eighth-place finish at the same weight.
Gillespie battled back for a fifth place finish
after being upset in the quarterfinals by eventual
champion Jordan Leen (Cornell). Leen
defeated Gillespie, 8-6, in a tough match. The
Fighting Scot 157-pounder lost another tough match,
2-1, to Penn State's Dan Vallimont in the consolation
semifinals.
Gillespie then posted a 15-0 technical fall over
Stanford's Josh Zupancic to capture fifth place.
Gillespie finished his junior season with a 37-4
record.
Bloomsburg's Matt Moley entered the tournament
unranked, but with a gritty consolation performance
Moley captured an eighth place finish. He
dropped his first match,11-6, to Iowa State's Cyler
Sanderson. Moley worked his way back through
the consolation bracket, winning four straight matches until he lost in the
consolation quarterfinals to Indiana's Brandon
Becker. Moley then fell again to Sanderson,
7-5. The Bloomsburg sophomore finished the season
33-11.
