California, Millersville to Battle for NCAA II East Region Men's Title

Two of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s best are set to face-off in the NCAA II East Region Final.  No. 1 California will play host to No. 6  Millersville at 7 p.m. inside Hamer Hall.  California took the PSAC Tournament Championship and has been rolling since.  The Vulcans defeated Queens, 75-54, in the tournament opener, outscoring Queens 41-23 in the second half.  The Vulcans only turned the ball over five times and shot 46 percent from the field in the contest.

The following evening California came from 16 points down to pull off a 72-67 victory over Alderson-Broaddus.  The Vulcans had four players in double figures as Ron Banks led the way with 19 markers.  Banks was joined in double digits by Ali Mbaye (16), Theron Colao (10), and James Hairston (10).  Millersville’s road to its second straight East Region Final began with a 64-61 upset victory over conference opponent Edinboro.  Reggie Bates led the Marauders with 22 points as they avenged their PSAC semi-final loss to the Fighting Scots.  Millersville’s Charlie Parker, RayQuan Miles, and Bernard Brown scored 11 points each to join Bates in double-figures.  Miles added 10 boards and Brown had 12 to earn double-doubles for the contest.  The Marauders then faced number seven seed, Pitt-Johnstown in the semi-finals.  Millersville defeated Pitt-Johnstown 81-73 in a hard fought battle.  Reggie Bates followed up his 22 point evening with a 32 point effort.  Teammate Charlie Parker added 16 while RayQuan Miles added 15 boards.  Earlier in the year, California defeated Millersville 83-76 on December 18th.  Millersville’s Reggie Bates led all scores in the contest with 29 points, but California had four players in double figures.  Ron Banks (22), James Hairston (15), Jesse Brooks (13), and Raynard Sawyer (13) all chipped in to lead the Vulcans to the victory.
