Gillespie
earned his second-straight Athlete of the Year award
with a strong regular season and a fifth-place
finish at the NCAA I National Championships after
moving up a weight class to 157 pounds. During
the 2007-08 campaign, Gillespie captured the PSAC Tournament's Outstanding Wrestler, four PSAC
Wrestler of the Week awards and was recognized three
times as the Eastern
Wrestling League Wrestler of the Week.
The Fighting Scot junior compiled a 37-4 season and also defended his Eastern
Wrestling League Title from 2007 en route to
becoming a
three-time All-American. Additionally, he
became just the sixth Edinboro wrestler to earn
All-America honors at least
three times.
