Women's Swimmer of the Year
Brooke Heath - Edinboro
(Sr, Woodstock, ONT/ Ingersoll District II)
Heath claimed All-America honors in three events at the NCAA II Swimming & Diving Championships.  She finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke for the third consecutive year with her time of 2:17.94, setting a new Edinboro record in the process.  Heath also finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.43) and fifth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:05.75).  Her efforts helped the Fighting Scots to reach their goal of a top 20 finish, placing 18th overall.  At the PSAC Championships, Heath claimed three individual first-place finishes en route to earning the meet's Outstanding Swimmer award.  She took home gold in the 200-yard IM (2:06.00), 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.54) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:20.72).  The senior also was a member of the third-place 200-yard medley relay team that recorded a new Edinboro best time of 1:49.68.  Heath concluded her career as an 11-time All-American and 14-time All-PSAC honoree.
Men's Swimmer of the Year
Max Bernardes - West Chester
(So, King George, Va./King George)
Bernardes claimed four All-America certificates at the 2008 NCAA II Swimming & Diving Championships en route to posting two new conference bests.  He finished second in the 1,000-yard freestyle as he touched the wall in 9:14.25 and set a new conference record.  He also set a new conference mark in the 400-yard individual medley with his time of 3:58.26, good enough for fourth place.  Bernardes earned another pair of All-America honors in the 500-yard freestyle (5th - 4:30.53) and the 1,650-yard freestyle (6th - 15:42.11).  The sophomore also took home three gold medals at the PSAC Championships, winning the 1,000-yard freestyle (9:32.64) and 400-yard individual medley (4:09.64) while leading off the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:50.01).
