Men's Track

Chris Cummings - Mansfield (Mansfield/Mansfield)Cummings ended his Mountaineer career as one of the most decorated student-athletes in Mansfield history.  He is the first Mountaineer to earn indoor track and field All-America honors after placing sixth in the mile in 2006.  This season, Cummings placed second in the mile (4:12.63) by just 0.01 seconds in a photo finish to earn his second All-America honor.  A member of the distance medley relay squad, Cummings' efforts helped the team earn Mansfield's first trip to nationals after becoming the first team DMR team to earn a PSAC title for the Mountaineers.  At the league championships, Cummings was selected as an Overall Co-MVP of the Meet after winning the mile and setting the field house and meet record (4:11.84).

Men's Field
James Dart - Kutztown  (Sr, Havertown/Haverford)  Dart placed seventh in the 2008 NCAA II National Championships with his mark of 54-08.75 in the shot put to earn his first All-America citation.  At the PSAC Championships, Dart placed second in the shot put behind teammate Steve Tyson with his throw of 54-00.05 while adding a fifth-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 54-03.75.  Earlier in the season at the Susquehanna Open, Dart had a school record breaking a throw of 55-1.

 

 

 



 

 

Women's Track

Danielle Scardino - West Chester (Levittown/Neshaminy) Scardino just missed a spot in the finals at the NCAA II National Championships as she placed ninth in the 60-meter hurdles with a new West Chester best time of 8.655.  Prior to the national championship meet, Scardino was named the women's Track Athlete of the Meet, as well as the Overall Co-MVP, at the 2008 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.  She took home gold in three events at that meet, winning the 55-meter dash (7.22), 200-meter dash (25.72) and the 55-meter hurdles (8.17).  Earlier in the season at the PSAC East Challenge, the senior also completed a gold-medal sweep in the same three events.  In addition to her PSAC accolades, the senior was also named the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches' Association East Region Athlete of the Year for her efforts during her senior campaign. 

Women's Field

Jennifer Hansen - Slippery Rock 

(Jr, Charleston, W. Va./Capital)  Hansen tied for third place at the NCAA II Championships with her mark of 12-09.00 in the pole vault and earned All-America honors in the process.  Hansen captured gold in the event at both the PSAC West Challenge and the 2008 PSAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, where she recorded a school and conference best mark of 13-01.5 and was the Field Athlete MVP.  She was also honored by the USTFCCA as the East Region's Field Athlete of the Year.  Hansen is now a two-time All-American and the two-time defending PSAC Champion in the pole vault after finishing third in the conference as a freshman.
