PSAC Championship Game  Box Score

Edinboro’s 16-0 run from the 8:39 mark to the 3:37 mark was the key portion of a 60-point half, as the host school downed Millersville, 85-76, to claim the 2005 PSAC Championship.

The Fighting Scots snapped the ninth and final tie of the game on Torry Mitchell's three-pointer which ignited the run. Another three by Devon Knight put the Scots up by six. Daren Tielsch and Rob Sims followed with buckets to boost the lead to 60-50 with 5:53 to play. Three more baskets, the final one a layup by Mitchell, gave Edinboro a 66-50 advantage. During the run, Millersville missed five field goal attempts, a pair of free throws, and turned the ball over once.

With Anthony Abrams scoring 19 of his game-high 29 points over the last three-and-a-half minutes, Millersville pulled to within seven points with 25 seconds showing at 83-76, but the Marauders would get no closer.

Sims led Edinboro with a season-high 22 points, and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. The senior guard almost single-handedly kept Edinboro in the game in the first half, scoring 15 points as Millersville took a 29-25 lead at intermission. He accounted for the final nine points of the half for the Scots.

Edinboro's inside game came alive in the second half, with Jakim Donaldson 12 of his 18 points in the final 20 minutes. In addition, Tielsch, Edinboro's second-leading scorer, was saddled with foul problems and did not score in eight minutes. He contributed eight points in the second half.

Donaldson finished with his 26th double-double in 30 games with 18 points and 13 rebounds. In the process, the senior forward set the season record for rebounds with 398, breaking Darryl Meacham's record of 393 set in 1965-66. In addition, he moved into eighth place in career scoring with 1,350 points and becomes the 14th player in Edinboro history to score 500 points in a season, sitting at exactly 500 points. Mitchell added 16 points.

After shooting just 34.3 percent from the floor in the first half, Edinboro sizzled in the second half at 63.3 percent to finish at 47.7 percent for the game. The Fighting Scots also held 45-34 advantage on the boards.

Four Marauders accounted for all but seven of Millersville's points. In addition to Abrams, Brian Jones had 20 points and 12 rebounds. Toochi Udeinya and Greg Testa had 10 points apiece.

Edinboro last won the PSAC Championship in 1998, also the last time the Fighting Scots were in the NCAA Playoffs. It marks Edinboro's third PSAC crown, and the second during head coach Greg Walcavich's 16-year reign.
