PSAC Internship Information
The Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference offers an yearly internship, with
the successful applicant expected to fulfill duties from
mid-August to late May. The intern will work
primarily within the media relations operation, but will
also be exposed to other educational aspects of the
league office. There may also be opportunities for
an internship in the summer months. Details are
listed below.
Skills/Abilities: Solid writing, communication
and computer skills are essential. Experience with
statistical software packages (StatCrew), Web page
maintenance and desktop publishing is also beneficial.
The intern will assist the service bureau/sports
information for 22 conference-sponsored sports. The
intern will also be responsible for some administrative
duties, such as assisting in the supervision and
development of the conference student-athlete advisory
committee, as well as various conference
championships.
Location: The
PSAC office is located on the campus of Lock Haven
University in Lock Haven, Pa. The PSAC consists of 14
universities who compete primarily on the NCAA Division
II level.
Stipend:
Approximately $1,000/month (net). The stipend is
partially funded by a senior women’s administrator grant
from the NCAA.

Intern Job Description
General
Responsibilities:
The intern will assist with the overall management of
the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference sports
information office/service bureau. The primary function
of the office is to effectively publicize and promote
the positive aspects of PSAC programs, their
student-athletes, coaches and administrators using
various media relations techniques. Responsibilities
range from the writing, editing and design of athletic
publications, press releases and web pages to game
management and statistical compilation at conference
championships.
Specific Duties:
Some of the specific duties the intern will be
responsible for include, but are not limited to:
1) Assist in the production of athletic publications:
media guides, game programs, promotional flyers, etc.
Includes: writing, editing, layout and design.
2) Assist with media relations including: writing and
distribution of press releases, feature stories and
result reporting for all sports. Serve as primary media
most for select championship events.
3) Assist with statistical record keeping and
dissemination at conference championship events.
Responsible for maintaining computerized results and
statistics, and reporting the results and statistics to
media outlets, other University sports information
offices, the NCAA and the general public via the World
Wide Web in a timely fashion.
4) Assist in the development of the PSAC’s presence on
the World Wide Web; contributing daily updates for all
in-season sports, and assist with the homepage design
and updates.
5) The selection and promotion of various
student-athlete and coaches honors and awards.
6) Assist with general office work; filing, mailing,
correspondence.
