SLIPPERY ROCK WINS PSAC CHAMPIONSHIP
California, Pa. - Slippery Rock defeated top seed California in order to earn the PSAC Championship title on Sunday in California, Pa.
All three Rock marks came in the second half with the first scored by Shelby Ward in the 63rd minute. The Rock's Lucy Hannon scored two security goals for Slippery Rock, her ninth and 10th goals of the season.
The Slippery Rock win marks the first time the Vulcans women's soccer squad has lost a match on their home field which opened in 2011. The PSAC title is the third in program history for the Green and White.
The NCAA will announce the field of teams for the 2012 NCAA DIvision II Women's Soccer Championship tournament on Monday, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m.
SLIPPERY ROCK TO FACE CAL IN CHAMPIONSHIP
California, Pa. - Slippery Rock downed East Stroudsburg 3-0 in the semifinals to advance to the 2012 PSAC Women's Soccer Championship game against Cal.
The Championship match will be held on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Phillipsburg Soccer Facility at 12:00 p.m.
The Rock's Lauren Impey netted her fourth mark of the season in the 24th minute for the game winning mark. Shelby War and Cailin Conner each scored security goals for the Rock in the second half. Luck Hannon recorded two assists on the day, including the game winning assist.
During the regular season the Vulcans notched a narrow 2-1 double overtime victory over The Rock.
CAL ADVANCES TO CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH WITH 2-1 SEMIFINAL WIN
California, Pa. - California defeated Edinboro 2-1 on Saturday in the 2012 PSAC Women's Soccer Championship semifinal game to earn a slot in the title match.
The Fighting Scots were the first on the scoreboard in the 13th minute with a Karisa Fernandez mark assisted by Liz Debo. The Vulcans responded in the 22nd minute with Kayla Fransko's second goal of the season. Cal U's game winner came in the 84th minute off the foot of Erin Hogan, her fourth mark of the season.
The Vulcans, who are looking to defend its PSAC crown, are slated to face the semifinal winner between No. 7 Slippery Rock and No. 6 East Stroudsburg on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.
CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
Lock Haven, Pa. - California clinched the top seed in the 2012 PSAC Women's Soccer Championships in order to earn hosting rights for the semifinal and championships rounds set for this weekend.
On Saturday, Nov. 3, the Vulcans will square-off against Edinboro at 11:00 a.m. at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility. California is in the hunt to defend its 2011 PSAC crown, the first title the Vulcans have won in program history.
The Fighting Scots are headed into the semifinals for the second consecutive season, where one year ago they met Cal and fell 5-1 to the eventual PSAC Champions. Earlier this season, the Vulcans battled to a 2-1 victory over Edinboro on October 3, the only regular season matchup between the two schools.
Slippery Rock and East Stroudsburg are slated to begin their semifinal match at 1:30 p.m., directly following the Cal versus Edinboro game.
East Stroudsburg earned semifinal rights after defeating No. 3 Gannon 0-0 (5-4 PK) on Thursday. The Warriors enter the semis for the third time in six seasons and are looking for their third PSAC title, with 1997 marking the last time ESU has earned gold in the championship.
Slippery Rock ousted No. 2 West Chester in the quarterfinals to gain entry into the semifinal round of the PSAC Championship for the third consecutive season. Earlier this season on October 6, East Stroudsburg and Slippery Rock were knotted a one apiece across 110 minutes of play for a double overtime tie.
All proceeds from Saturday's matches will be donated to the American Red Cross Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Efforts.

PSAC WOMEN'S SOCCER QUARTERFINAL RECAPS
Lock Haven, Pa. – A 2-1 California victory over No. 8 IUP clinched the top seed in the 2012 PSAC Women’s Soccer Championships, as the Vulcans will host the semifinal and final rounds of the tournament.
The Vulcans struck in the 25th minute against the Crimson Hawks, with Janelle McCann earning her seventh mark of the season. Cal earned its eighth shutout victory of the season with the 1-0 win, and has only allowed opponents 14 goals across the 2012 season.
Cal is set to face No. 4 Edinboro in the semifinals on Saturday, as the Fighting Scots advanced into the semis with a 2-1 victory over No. 5 Kutztown. Both Edinboro goals came in the first half, the first coming-off the foot of Allyson Overly, assisted by Kelsey Knoll just 12 minutes into the match. Jansen Hartmann notched the game winner in the 27th minute, her fifth mark of the season. The Golden Bears Hanna Fenstermacher cut the Edinboro lead in half in the 71st minute when she drilled it into the back of the net from 15 yards out for her second goal of 2012.
A pair of lower seeds will match up in the other semifinal. No. 6 East Stroudsburg defeated No. 3 Gannon in a penalty kick shoot-out. The Warriors prevailed by sinking all five of its penalty kick attempts, with Gannon making four. The game was tied at zero throughout all 110 minutes of regulation and overtime play.
East Stroudsburg will face No. 7 Slippery Rock, which upset No. 2 West Chester, 2-1. In the 56th minute, Stephanie Buckenheimer ripped a shot that rebounded to Shelby Ward, who knocked it into the net for her seventh goal of the season and the game winner. The Rock initially got on the scoreboard in the 16th minute with a goal from Callin Conner, her fourth mark in 2012. The Golden Rams mustered a goal with just 55 seconds remaining in the match, scored by Carly Yost.
CHAMPIONSHIP SCHEDULE ANNOUNCEMENT
Lock Haven, Pa. -- The 2012 PSAC women's Soccer Championship field is set for this week's first round of competition to be played on Thursday, Nov. 1.
Eighth ranked IUP will play first seed California (Pa.) in the quarterfinal round and No. 7 Slippery Rock travels to No. 2 West Chester. Sixth seed East Stroudsburg heads to No. 3 Gannon in the first round while No. 5 Kutztown and No. 4 Edinboro will square-off at Edinboro. All quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 1.
California will play host for the semifinal, Nov. 3, and championship, Nov. 4, matches at Roadman Park. The winner between Cal and IUP is scheduled to play the Edinboro and Kutztown victor. The team that comes out on top between Slippery Rock and West Chester will face either East Stroudsburg or Gannon.

ADJUSTMENTS MADE TO PSAC SOCCER TOURNAMENT SCHEDULES
Lock Haven, Pa. -Due to the impending storms approaching the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has made adjustments to the league's upcoming Men's and Women's Soccer Tournament Commissioner Steve Murray announced today.
Originally scheduled to be played Tuesday, Friday and Saturday during the upcoming week, league officials decided to push the opening-round games to Thursday. The semifinals will be played on Saturday with the Championship Game slated for Sunday.
In the opening round, if there is only one contest scheduled for a site, matches will take place at 1.p.m. Adjustments will be made in the event of a women's and men's doubleheader or if the institutions can agree on an alternate time due to travel concerns.
Saturday's semifinals will begin at 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The Championship Game on Sunday will start at noon.
Note: League officials will reconvene on Wednesday morning to asses any additional changes that may need to be made.
